3ds max 6 - losing texture coords when importing VRML

Subject pretty much says it all.

i've got a simple model as VRML 2.0 (and 1.0)
and when i import it into max 6 the texture coordinates are lost.
or i just can't find them.

the texture itself reads in fine, just the coords are absent.

edit: actually, i take that back. the texture bitmap's not there either, but i can get it elsewhere.

any clues ?

Load into the Diffuse slot of a material channel and apply it to the shape.

- that would be fine,
except the texture coordinates are lost also.
