There are fewer decent free hosts than there were this time last year, and the trend will likely to continue as advertising banners do not pay as much as they used to.

Probably the best place to start looking for free hosts is the FreeWebspace.net directory. They also have forums. There are fewer decent free hosts than there were this time last year, and the trend will likely to continue as advertising banners do not pay as much as they used to.

Www.x-host.uni.cc they are a very reliable host, and very nice. Very easy to sign up, just register on forums, then post in the request forums. They answer PMs usually within a few hours of sending them, and are very nice.

Well, actually, I hate it. But it's similar in quality to other free webhosting services I've used. If you're just using Html, images, etc., it's fine. But it doesn't let you use any scripts except the ones they provide.
If you just want to have a site to post stuff you're working on to, it should be fine though.

You could also check the "Remotely Hosted" section of HotScripts for remote forums if you have problems finding a host with ample space and Perl/PHP/ASP capabilities.

In the FreeWebspace.net forums you will find some sticky posts that should help you decide, or you can ask there if you have specific needs that they do not cover. You could also check the "Remotely Hosted" section of HotScripts for remote forums if you have problems finding a host with ample space and Perl/PHP/ASP capabilities.

And as for tripod.com, I started using it temporarily for this, and it's pretty much working for me so far. There is no easy forum building option that I can see, but there is a web blog option, which may not be exactly what you want... but anyway, you can try it out, and if you don't like it, just try something else.
Ones that I've used before and didn't have probelms with: geocities.com and freeservers.com

Can i add boards made at ezboard to freewebs?
#12
ezboard put a lot of ads on their service though (popups and banners).
Personally, I would be more likely to use InvisionFree

The whole point of remotely hosted forums is that you can use them with any hosting service merely by linking between the two.ezboard put a lot of ads on their service though (popups and banners).

It might be an idea to let guests view at least some of your forums, as most people don't like to register without knowing anything about a community. (It's asking me to log in just to look at what is available.)
