Newbie Trying To Use MS C++ Express
by TyLem · in Torque Game Engine · 09/30/2004 (8:47 pm) · 45 replies
I have read all of the information on getting started but still do not have a clue. I want to start making games and do not know exactly how to start. I have everything downloaded in my compiler. I keep getting these errors in my compiler, so I clean and rebuild and when I rebuild the errors return. When I clean it the errors are gone, but you can not start creating a game unless you compile it clean . I am totally stuck.

All I can add to this thread is that yes, you can't redistribute anything you create in vs express 2005 (any of the languages) but that is explained on the MS site before you dl them....any changes you make and recompile under VS 2k2 or VS 2k3 are freely redistributable.

Thanks for the info. about redistribution

I just read this topic again and im not trying to rip on you dude, I 'm just saying that posting the same topic on different cats is spamming. And becasue i was ticked at this guy who was posting questions about compiling everywhere like for his plan and in the Looking fo a Job (or wtvr its called) section. My apologies.

I have Uninstalled 2005 Express and will use MSVB or MSVC++ until I get Visual Studio 2k2 or 2k3. Thanks all for your assistance.

Although I have uninstalled 2005 Express I am willing to accept information for the group of kids who were trying to ask me for help, however I am moving on to my MSV programs.

but you only need to do that when texture2bm8 gives errors of (about ten of them) claim to already haveing said resource libs what ever. (can remember the exact error)
hope ya get this figgered out

Your errors didnt look like the errors shown when needing to change to multithread, i use the "multithreaded" but you only need to do that when texture2bm8 gives errors of (about ten of them) claim to already haveing said resource libs what ever. (can remember the exact error)
hope ya get this figgered out

Thanks ACE! :-D

Thanks Ace, LOL I was so frustrated with the VC++ 2005 Express that I just uninstalled, if the group of kids try to contact me again I will relay the message for them, it took me 10 frustrating hours just to download Express, but the group has DSL, I have dial up and the instructions for MSVC++ are so easy, and since I can not redistribute with either program, I choose to go with the MSVC++ program I have created on for 2 years. Working with this means no more Newbie threads for me!! :-) Nevertheless thanks I tried to help others and could not. Thanks ACE! :-D

I don't understand. Why do you have to relay information to other Torque owners? If they are compiling the Torque, they have access to all of the information as well as the forums themselves.

Personally I do not see how they can not be a member of Torque if they went through all of the steps I had shown them, I believe from my heart they are members. They claim to be kids and knew nothing about installing it.
If there is something wrong with what I have done Please Tell Me Now! You may email me anytime to discuss this further. I can not give their email address on the open forum.

I never gave it any thought and felt there is nothing to understand. We played Torque a few times and they asked me how to download Torque, I took them through the Step by Step Process and it helped me too, they did not have a compiler so I directed them to the EXpress compiler. Personally I do not see how they can not be a member of Torque if they went through all of the steps I had shown them, I believe from my heart they are members. They claim to be kids and knew nothing about installing it.

*I do not understand why my threads spark all negative attention with Minimim Assistance*

I assumed they already had access but like me, did not understand since things did not work for them. This is suppose to be a gaming community game developers should help other game developers. *I do not understand why my threads spark all negative attention with Minimim Assistance*

Sounds to me like they are pirates that did not pay for Torque.

I have nothing to do with Slandering anyone's name, and have not participated in any illegal activities. If your comments do not involve me I want no part in it. If you are referring to me as a Pirate or a Scurvy Dog please check my membership, or anything you would like to check. Piracy is a serious offence, and so are false accusations.

You have destroyed my reputation on Torque and in any gaming world. With all of this negative attention who would want me on thier team? I was only an innocent customer that heard about game design and wanted to create games. I am a new grad fresh out of college wanting to learn this side of coding, instead I am met with chaos, hateful comments. I would not jeapordize my Career for such nonsense as Piracy acts. At this point I feel victimized and do not know what to do. The posts on this thread about the name calling, as well as piracy claims are vauge, not blaming me or clearing me. Therefore in the public eye I am in connection with all of the negative comments surrounding this thread. That is not fair to me as a customer. I am very disappointed about these results. :-(

As a new designer I no longer feel welcomed here.

I haven't seen mood swings like this since Ryan Zec. Combine that with the drama queen aspect, top it off with playing the god card - that just makes good reading.. I've got to mirror this one before garagegames sends this thread to the shredder.

THERE ARE MULTIPLE CHOICES MT FOR Multi-Threaded, then MTd for Mutli-Thread debug,MD for Mutli Thread DLL,then MDd Multi thread DLL, which one should I use? I used MT.
Thanks Randall for the comments, it's tough for me but I really believe I can do this , with no real back for this software it will take some time but eventually I will get through this if I keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer.
