Alpha map problems..

by Jacob Dankovchik · in General Discussion · 09/29/2004 (11:32 am) · 4 replies

I just bought TSE and I noticed somewhere that the specular highlighting is done through your alpha channel. When I tried to mess with this, it wouldnt work because for some reason my alpha channels aren't saving. I tried both the SuperPNG plugin and some other plugin that was installed with the DirectX SDK. Im using photoshop 7, and the alpha channel gets turned to complete white. Anyone know what to do?

Are you sure the version of SuperPNG you are using is the matte version with Alpha channel support? The version that is currently downloadable from the official website does not have the matte version in it. However some generous soul in another post had the 'good' version hosted on their own personal server; I grabbed it as recently as last week in fact:

www.joemaruschak.com/super.zip

make sure you rename the old png.8bi or move it somewhere.. if it is in the same folder, it will use that one ( the default) instead.

Use the TSE forums.

I was going to use TSE, but this sorta extended beyond just it. I also had this problem with other stuff as far as saving an alpha channel, TSE is just when I noticed i couldn't. ;)

And thats for the help! I'll try it right away! :D

Yup, it works with no probs! Thank you very much!! :D
