What is Torque like to use?

I am a newb at 3D game development and scripting. I have made 2 simple 2D games with the Coldstone Game Engine. (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/coldstone/)
Anyway, I was wondering how hard it would be to make a sort of futuristic "Fighter Pilot" game with Torque, and if I could import graphics from Strata 3D. (www.Strata.com) or if Torque has a sort of built in 3D editor and if it does, what is it like?

Save your work as 3ds or obj then import into Ultimate Unwrap3D. That has DTS export. I had no problems use that software. You uv map there to.

*EDIT: added the 'n't' to 'does' so that the meaning was correct.

According to the Strata Features List, it doesn't support saving/exporting to 3DS or OBJ. It can import them, though...*EDIT: added the 'n't' to 'does' so that the meaning was correct.

AFAIK, no one has created a DTS exporter for Strata (I hadn't even heard of it until about a month ago when someone else asked the same question), but Blender is a good option (once you learn the workflow). Plus, it's free. Otherwise, Milkshape, GameSpace, Maya, Max, or LightWave are your best options.
I do know that people have worked on space shooters in Torque, but I have no idea how much modification they've had to make to the engine.
