'Far Cry' was it done with Torque??

I read at some other forum (I don't remember the where) that Far Cry used the engine Torque. That is truth??

Is it possible to do a game multiplayer type Far Cry with the Torque?

FarCry did not use the Torque engine. FarCry used the CryEngine

Far Cry uses the cryEngine as found on their website www.farcry.ubi.com/technology.php

As for doing a Far Cry with TGE, sure, with some work.

I watched the Farcry demo's again since I hadn't seen them in a while. Farcry is about 60% hype, 35% editor, 3% good ideas, and about 2% original.

There are many aspects of the demo that show Torque to be far superior in many ways.

I'd say in the big picture it was a tech demo of what people can do with this new technology

Well for the price you would proberly have to pay for the CRYEngine, you'd expect they would have a good game out. After all, no one had ever heard of the engine until Far Cry ;)

Far Cry wasted both my PC's. I had to format and reinstall everything just from running it. Im never touching it again!

Translation: Spouse got so mad at being ignored for weeks on end that she trashed my harddrives and burned the Far Cry install discs while I was sleeping.

Jak, gas is old dude, haven't ya heard about the new Hybrid systems? Or the Fuel Cells? I perfer Hydrogen, no wonder your car broke down, using that old gas/internal combustion engine =\

I have the FarCry game and it plays great. The only problem is finding a server that where the people made a map and is not cheating. The editor is real nice. You can make real nice mod in about 5-10 hours once you get the hang of it. As for people thinking that it is the Torque engine that made it... you do get some hints that it was. It gave me alot of ideas what Torque is capable of becomming. The main thing I liked was the interior editor. It makes life alot easier building interiors. I wish that someone could make an editor similar to cryengine for Torque.
