You can use UltraEdit with any engine. Just make a project the way 3DGPai1 tells you to, but for the other engine's scripting files. You can also use it for c++ or other languages.

However, as an alternative for Torque, you could consider using Torque Explorer. It is currently being beta tested and will include all the core functionality needed to edit torquescript and work with sound, image, other files. I should be available in a few weeks.

You can read about it here and in the continued posting.

I'd recommend using jEdit (I am using it at the moment to work through 3d Game Programming All In One). It is a full featured text editor and costs [insert preferred currency]0.00!

Yes, check out the TIDE plugin for jEdit.

It really comes down to personal preference, but fortunately most commercial editors have a demo version available so you can compare them for yourself.

To note: JEdit + TIDE (free) is what we currently officially recommend.

I'm torn between using jEdit+TIDE or BrainEditor Pro... decisions, decisions.. atleast I managed to rule out UltraEdit. :P

I love UltraEdit, but then I've also been using it for a long time. JEdit is nice, as is BrainEditor. BBEdit is excellent, as well.
