Hallo!
I really like the easy-to-use interface and features of the build in Torque Terrain Editor. But are there other terrains editors which may be as good as the one from Torque? It shouldn't be more expensieve than 100$ and should have these features:
- Import/Export hightmaps to BMP
- Generate hightmaps with many possibility
- Make your own hightmap with 3D Preview with Torque-like features: Raise/Lower, Mountain/Vally, Smooth, Noise, Flatten, ...
- Make your own skin by painting easily your new terrain with imported textures (no size limitation)
- Generate the skin by importing your own textures (vally till 250m grass, mountain toll 1000m this stone texture, above this snow texture etc...)
- Generate lightmap by defining the sun azimut and sun elevation
Do you know such a tool with a WYSIWYG interface?
Thanks!!!

Someone could edit Torque to import/export BMP perhaps? then it would do everything on your list :)

It already imports heightfields...

Yes, but I need it for something else, so I have to export it. At the moment Terragen is quiet good, but it isn't good at painting the terrain with imported textures (which is already impossible). But it's good in rendering the skin. But the Torque Terrain Editor is perfect... or: it would be perfect, if it can export the SKIN (or does it? I haven't found it yet). If I would use this Torque tool, then it must export the hightmap AND the Skin.
I hope you understoof what I wanted to say.
