New Game Called Robotz

Ok, ok, so i'm new, really new. Have no idea at all new. but I have an idea, a great idea. About a year ago I came up with an inovative, yet creative concept of a game. Where the players, as they go up in level, the game becomes, more RTS style.
The game is about ROBOTS, not evil killer robots, but cute comical robots. And they get to blow each other to pieces. It takes place in the future when humans secluded this Island in the ocean for war. The robots fight the wars. Getting the picture, good. Ok I wanted the rendering of the 3D environment to be High Quality, like Think Tanks. Destructable environments, to the point where one faction can take out another faction's city. Oh yeah there are four factions, the Americans, the Chinese, the Outlaw/Terrorists, and the Aliens, and they're all robots, cool huh. Each "race"/"faction" has 3 classes Infantry, Ground Vehicle, Air Vehicle, then subclasses i.e. tank gunner, tank driver, pilot, sniper. The entire game is Online and hopefully 1000's of people will play so the armies get big. If not we can always turn to A.I..
So i need everyone, programmer, coder, scripter, 3D artists (i can do the artwork), texture artist, and so on.
well the game sounds great but there's some bad news theres no pay, I'm only 14, its for the love of the game, oh yeah and i'm tired of playing crappy games so i will make one.
Also I'm a mac user, got me a big ol' G5 1.6 Ghz. So i got the goods do you?

1.6 is like Celeron (sp?) while plugged into a wall....
P.S. If I've said it once, I've said it a million times..... START WITH SOMETHING SMALLER!!! IT WILL HELP YOU OUT. That game sounds very ambitious. It sounds like an MMO game. BE WARNED! Even pro companies like EA have cancelled MMO games because they require huge amounts of supplies and work.
I do like the race combonations though. ;) Americans, Communists, the French/Iraqi/Canadian/Irani, and little green things with big heads. Always fun.

Were you joking with the 1.6 Ghz power comment? My desktop is 3.8 and my laptop is 3.4. (My desktop is an "L")1.6 is like Celeron (sp?) while plugged into a wall....

Nice game concept, you should concentrate on the artwork like Ted suggested and maybe find some people to work with you on balancing out your design. Good luck, this is what GG is all about! :)- Christopher "Ronixus" Dapo

So, in the future, America and China are the only two countries at war? Shouldn't they team up to fight off the aliens... or are the Chinese secretly allied with the aliens?

It's a 1.6 on a 64 bit chip. So it's trying to trick you into thinking it's as good as a 3.2 Ghz 32 bit. Problem is, it's running a 32 bit OS that's marketed as a fledgling 64 bit OS(when completed someday) all while truely only using 48 bit memory addressing and Zero 64 bit capabilities, lol.
What kind of desktop you running? Alienware?

And for an important point:
"I'm a mac user, got me a big ol' G5 1.6 Ghz. So i got the goods do you?"
A fast computer is not really the important 'goods' you need for game development (brag about skills and experience perhaps).

Not that I'm a mac fan, but a G5 1.6 Ghz is a lot different to a P4 1.6, which is also a lot different to a Celeron 1.6 or an XP 1.6 (1800 or so) or a duron 1.6 etc etc. Clock speed doesn't really mean all that much, its the technology behind it. Same goes for just about every spec in your computer. And for an important point:

Of course, the "goods" are only as good as software that's running on it. Since I use Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio, Logic, Photoshop, Boris Continuum Complete, and Lightwave 8, I'm quite happy. I've noticed a marked difference in performance between Mac and PC (3.4g P4) for Boris and Lightwave.
I have yet to notice a difference for any game (except Halo which wasn't created with dual processors in mind and would lock to an unplayable state unless I disabled one of them) between PC and Mac. Perhaps that's because I have a nice PC and a nice Mac. Perhaps its because they designed them with portability in mind rather than specific OS tweaks. I don't know. I really don't care. The apps I use work nicely on it. The apps I use on my PC (Digital Fusion, Premiere, After Effects, etc) work great. Everything I use on my Linux box works great, too.

As for your idea, it doesn't sound bad. Make a model or two of your robots, and you'll draw some team members...
