by TechLord · in General Discussion · 07/25/2004 (10:58 pm) · 11 replies

TournamentBlitz powered by HPQuest.com is a developer 3D Skill-based Cash Tournament Games.

What is a Skill-based Cash Tournament Game?
A contest game in which players score points based on hand-eye accuracy, memory recall, or general knowledge. Players (2 to N) pay a specified entry fee to participate in the contest. Eighty-five percent (85%) of the fees are collected and placed in a Prize Pool. The Player or Team that achieves the best Tournament Score wins the prize. Fifteen percent of collected fees are deducted by TournamentBLITZ for administrative purposes.

TournamentBlitz will feature all Computer Game genres. Each rendered in 3D. I anticipate the initial Tournament Games available will be of the Action:FPS genre with Puzzle and Strategy games to follow. Players will be able to compete in Head-To-Head Challenges, Multi-player/Team-Based, and Progressive Tournament for Cash Prizes.

Are there other Cash Tournament Gaming Companies?

Torque's Award winning network code! As recommended by GG, all game logic is managed by the server. Additionally, multiple cyclic redundancy checks (CRC) are also performed to catch errors in the data. Database connectivity achieved via Secure Socket Layer (SSL). The anti-cheat capabilities are one of many reasons why I selected TGE/TSE as my primary development platform.

This is an advertisement for my game development concept.

Sounds like a great idea to me...

(I actually suggested this idea like a month ago)

How much would you expect to be paid for a typical game/tournament?

btw, you could really use a flash intro... and I get this message from your site:

I've been working on TournamentBlitz intermittently ~6.5 years. I have developed the 2D Game: INSECTIODZ (TournamentBlitz Edition), that demonstrates both Tournament and CoinOp services.

TournamentBlitz was originally conceived for games developed with Blitz3D, I've selected GG's TGE/TSE as Primary Development Platform due to its Award Winning 3D Rendering, Network Code, Support, and Community.

A Token System is used. A single Token is equivalent to $.25 US. The minimum Token purchase is $5.00 US. Tournament Entry Fees range from 1 to 1000+ Tokens. Tokens are Purchased and Redeemed via PayPal.

LOL. I concur. TournamentBlitz is being completely redesigned. Thus, efforts on the web site have ceased. A new and improved web site will be in construction in the near future. My current focus Game Installation Management and Tournament Game Development.

Will,

I reviewed your thread

The legalalities: Laws governing contests and tournaments with entry fees and/or prizes are not set by the federal government, and therefor vary from state to state. Due to individual state laws, tread carefuly when offering fee-based tournaments with prizes to residents of the following states: Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Tennessee and Vermont.

The greatest challenge is developing A Game of Skill and not a Game of Chance. I've selected hand-eye accuracy, memory recall, and general/trivial knowledge as measurable skills for my games. The unit of measurement is a score value.

To avoid developing a Game of Chance I'm excluding random events and AI patterns of movement. Every action should have a defined reaction. Each Puzzle has a solution that is solvable at the minimum time given. Each question has a single factorial answer, not a ambigous one.

Looking for ideas on Game Management System. The Game Management System will provide browsing, download, install/uninstall, update, and execution of tournament games and game servers.

Currently, there is no form of management. Each game is an executable (*.exe) that needs to be downloaded then executed to launch its installer. Many beta testers were not confortable with this installation process unlike a java based Tournament games launched within the web browser. This is a problem, that I want to solve.

I'm currently pondering over one solution. Develop an Application similar to gamespyarcade for game management. The Game Manager Application could be developed with Torque and provide a single interface for browsing, download, install/uninstall, update, and execution of tournament games and game servers. Each Game would be a MOD Package complete with Media, Scripts, and Data needed.

I'm certain the Game Manager could be implemented in other ways. Lets discuss.
