Modelling Arms

by Todd Johnson · in Torque Game Engine · 07/02/2004 (3:56 pm) · 3 replies

I'm trying to create a mech. I want the mech's arm to have cannons on each arm. I also want the arms to be destroyable. Basically, a mech could be running around with no arms. At first I was tempted to create a mech with no appendages and just add weapons for arms. Then I ran into the animation issue. I couldn't get them to move with the body properly. Is there a prefered way of handling this (I'm using Milkshape)?

There's a resource around here that allows you to dynamically make model nodes visible & invisible in-game. Sounds like exactly what you need for your arms. Just search the Resources for it. (And, if memory serves there was even a recent IOTD that showed this in practice with some female player models & missing heads and such.)

Hmm, odd I can't find the IOTD, but here's the resource.

Good luck!
