Does anyone think a game like this could work ?

Hey guys.

One Game idea we are starting to work on is a counter-strike / Rogue spear style tactical game.

Like counter-strike there would be real-life weapons and a buying system for each team BUT it would have theswat movement style which slows down and makes it a bit more tactical.

For example things such as lockpicks e.t.c would all be included to try and infiltrate a facility.

Large outdoor landscapes would be used and the swat team would have to travel a fair distance to reach the compound . This is where vehicles would be introduced since it would require teamwork to be used . In addition it allows the swat team to attack the compound from any direction giving them that element of surprise.

What do you guys think about a game like this ?? im hoping to introduce a whole new level of emmersion and tactics to seperate it from the normal deathmatch games.

It seems to be a cool idea, much work though. Are you sure about the part about bying weapons like in CS? This is really unrealistic.

The whole rural area is unrealistic for swat. SWAT work in all urban envirnments.

SWAT all urban?

Never lived in the country, have you?

SWAT operates in urban and rural areas both. Population density dictates, of course, that they operate more often in urban areas. But bottom line, they go where the need is.

Rural SWAT is a really cool idea.

The tactics will be different from city teams though. The tactical team for the county I live in, trains mostly for rural situations. They learn more tracking and field craft techniques and place a greater emphasis on accurate, long range shooting.

Most city police snipers make their shots at about 75 yards. In the countryside, you could have a maniac with a hunting rifle making accurate shots at your team from 600 yards away. Good long range accuracy and stalking skills for all team members are vital. This would add a whole different element to the counter-strike/Rainbow-6 style of game.

Most anti-terrorist games take place at extremely close range with submachine guns and shotguns. A game with large outdoor environments would place greater emphasis on rifle skills and accurate counter-sniping. Plus, you could add whole new elements like weather conditions, booby traps and vehicles.

I envision levels like the Waco cult compound or Ruby Ridge. Sounds like fun.

I would have fun playing it, if you get to the beta stage look me up.

I think CS pretty much is that game. It is going to be very hard to beat CS, especially with Sierra behind them, and their new voice tech (which makes teh game amazing) Just my opinion

What about a story driven Swat-type game.

As in something other than nothing, or "Welcome to swat training" then they ship you off to take out some crazy person/guy/grandma.

What about adding some RPG elements, or even some supernatural or sci-fi elements?

I wonder what SWAT would be like 50 years from now?
