Who would like to see an Torque engine version of ELITE?

Remeber Elite? Man that game whooped some ass. God knows how many hours of my youth I spent playing that game. I have assembled a small group of like minded developers to start work on this idea using the torque engine. Right now, it's just for fun. But, who knows, maybe it will be some wholesome gaming goodness :)

David Braben, one of the two people behind the orginal Elite, is currently developing Elite4 with his company Frontier Development.

There is also an Elite Club from Frontier Development, whose aim is

Quote:The idea is to allow people to freely download the games as shareware, and also allow people to access the source code and legitimately update the games - bringing them up to date with current technology.

Undoubtably, this will be under a license of some kind, and this license may conflict with the Torque Engine license.

Personally, whilst I thought Elite was great (I spent alot of time playing that game), I'd be keaner to see something new. Since it will take a substantial amount of work to make a space flight game out using the Torque Engine (or any engine for that matter), it would be a shame not to spend some effort coming up with a new design.

Good luck!

Here's a link to Elite - The New Kind (a complete reverse-engineering of the original BBC game - with
sourcecode!)

Here's Elite Platinum, a remake (also with links
