Halo influenced game dubbed INSANE

After playing the amazing halo for 3 months strait i have come up with a game idea for a halo clone. its called insane and the name alone gives the gameplay ideas away.
Story: earth has colonized many planets due to the technological advances humans have made. the three planets humans have colonized are chukal, pea, and aresma. while attempting to colonize a fourth planet they found a race of power hungry "jarra". the humans and jarra have been at war for years. you, an elite star soldier and your team have been sent to aresma to take out the jarra high counsel leader drenar.
Gameplay: similar to halo. there will be 6 guns at your disposal. i havent come up with names yet but i will post them soon.
AI: ai will be very intelligent. your soldiers will at times have mood fits and shoot dead jarra courpse, spring into battle, ect. jarra ai will include running away from grenades, using natural enviornments as cover, grouping up if battle conditions get bad, retreating from battle if conditions get too bad.
i would also like to port this to the xbox.
more features to come
in need of a dev team, help is very welcome

This is not a forum, it's a thread or topic. Sorry it ended up this way, I have actually given you some decent advice, but you are in no position to order or demand anything here dude.

Actually, I've never noticed GG treating their customers badly. I've seen topics get closed/hidden. I've seen them tell people to tone it down or get out, but I can't say that it's been unwarranted. They've actually been much more relaxed than most forums, as Stefan related above. I'm not sure where that comment came from, but from the tone this topic has taken, they might not be too far off center if they think we're all flamers and trolls.

I have little enough time to work on my project as it is, so I really don't have time to devote to another one. Good luck, though.

Well, I'm not working on a game called Illumina, and I'm hesitant to work with anyone right now because I have next to no time. Between work, film, and theatre, I don't get as much time as I'd like to work on my project as it is. I hate the idea of wasting other people's time because I'm busy with non-game-related things. So, right now I'm not looking for outside assistance. I'll let you know in the future if I am, though, since I get a bit edgy the longer I'm sitting in LightWave trying to bone demons.
My recommendation, though, is that rather than dropping your project, drop it down a level. Or more specifically to a level. Timothy Aste created an excellent demo and bunch of artwork for his portfolio. Drop your design down to a single area or element and design the hell out of it. Then, implement it. That way, you'll have a solid base to work from AND you'll also be able to look at the things you WANT to do and see if they're feasible.
I would like to know who is working on Illumina, though. It seems like it's someone that I should know, but it's not coming to me right now.

Ohhhhhh Jeff, I can hear it now "click click" Bye Bye Thread =), oh and BTW I am an american and I do Side with badgUy, most Upper/Upper-Middle class americans are idiot consumers who want money money money, and do not feel for the people around them in need, I see a man who needs food, and a warm shower, I don't hand him a quarter, I break out my savings go into wallmart buy him a new wardrobe, take him home give him a shower and some decent meals, then I turn around, and if I am in the possition to, give him a job. Oh and people indeed are sheep, atleast most, they follow the flock, the flock says sex drugs and alcohol are a-O.k then what does the rest of the flock do, Obviously Gonzo, your not very "in-tune" with the way the world works, maybe you should spend a year in the eyes of a teenager, life is not liek it was in the 60's 70's 80's its alot worse now, and alot more lethal, I read a study, it was like nearly every hour 3 teens kill themselves. Why? Because the world is telling them, this this and this will heal the pain. Gonzo, you might just want to have a life in a teenager for a year, you might just get gray hairs. Thats my post, and i'm threw, I wount be replying again gonzo, so feel free to keep your mouth closed, as I woun't be liseneing, big waste of time.

What you should be doing right now is writing your design document and flushing out your idea so that you will know what you will need to make and who you will need to make it.

Hugh, what do you mean slow? Game development isn't something that you one day pick up and start working on and instantly have results to show for it. It takes a while to ramp up speed as you prepare for production. What you should be doing right now is writing your design document and flushing out your idea so that you will know what you will need to make and who you will need to make it.

it takes place in the aftermath of a world nuclear strike. the UWPA(United World Peace Association) has been testing a type of super nuke capable of leveling russia. news leaked about this all over the world. a group quickly formed and called themselves the UWPA rebels. the UWPA didnt pay them any mind, until the UWPA rebels took over one of the highest level security nuclear plants. their demands: stop testing of supernukes or they will launch 5 of the UWPA supernukes. the UWPA tried to negotiate with the terrorist but negotiations only made the terrorist madder. as a final resort the UWPA launched a supernuke at the terrorists. the terrorist launced all 5 of the supernukes. people evacuated citys and resorted to underground shelter. the nukes hit, destroying every place you could think of. the surface was non explorible due to radiation. for 20 years earth has been silent, a harsh nuclear winter has developed and now in the year 2034, the UWPA rebels have come on the surface to wage war against the remaining forces of the UWPA.
features will be the same

My design document is nearly finished, and i have come up with a more futurific realistic type of game: Nuclear Winter: A World Against Itselfit takes place in the aftermath of a world nuclear strike. the UWPA(United World Peace Association) has been testing a type of super nuke capable of leveling russia. news leaked about this all over the world. a group quickly formed and called themselves the UWPA rebels. the UWPA didnt pay them any mind, until the UWPA rebels took over one of the highest level security nuclear plants. their demands: stop testing of supernukes or they will launch 5 of the UWPA supernukes. the UWPA tried to negotiate with the terrorist but negotiations only made the terrorist madder. as a final resort the UWPA launched a supernuke at the terrorists. the terrorist launced all 5 of the supernukes. people evacuated citys and resorted to underground shelter. the nukes hit, destroying every place you could think of. the surface was non explorible due to radiation. for 20 years earth has been silent, a harsh nuclear winter has developed and now in the year 2034, the UWPA rebels have come on the surface to wage war against the remaining forces of the UWPA.

I'm sorry I had to burst, I am just tired of all this crap, which gets wasted over something so stupid.
Hugh: Sorry, my Yahoo account has been acting weird since the changes to have been done to the service. I'll get back with you once they get it fixed.
[EDIT]
Also, I think your design is great. I'm glad you at least have a positive attitude about things.

It's too bad morons like Gonzo the buttcrack have to give Americans the bad name. If you fu**ing hate GarageGames so much, you can go fu*k off somewhere else. I'm tired of shits like you coming in here just so you can treat everyone like they are nothing more to you.I'm sorry I had to burst, I am just tired of all this crap, which gets wasted over something so stupid.

All in all.. wtf is the thrad for?
@Hugh: No load times? Halo Clone? Xbox port? (btw, i want your xdk, fun fun.. but only to play with it.. not to make a game..)
I like the names you've picked out for your game. Other then that.. I hope to see it gets made, But i wont play it.
06/26/2004 (2:42 pm)
I Got bored while reading half of the thread posts.. but correct me if i'm wrong.. Yall are argueing over oppions.. not facts.. Halo was cool.. yeah.. i liked the storyline.. but just like any game, it gets old after you've played it. The dreadful Library level is just crap tho.. way to long.. and boring..All in all.. wtf is the thrad for?

Bit of a contradiction don't you think?
I have to wonder whether someone who would post something like that would have anything close to a remote idea about game development. Still, good luck to ya...
