For those who haven't heard about this little project, view this snapshot:

To the others, here's a new version. 5 weeks and 1 day in development... couple of days to go...Last week we fixed most of the bugs that were mentioned, and we changed the handling of the car (like many people requested... its totally arcade now) We only have a couple of days left, so we won't be able to make big changes. As you will see the second level is only 50% finished, but you get the idea. We also have someone working on the sounds now, so don't worry about those ;)

We're hoping to have an official release somewhere next week. (we have to present it next week thursday, it would be cool if some servers were running during our presentation)... meantime feedback is still welcome.

Are you still handing out beta test versions?

What do you mean? You can download it from the link.

This is just the almost final version (its a school project, so "final" is just the version we'll hand in). We released this one to make sure we didn't overlook anything. It turned out this was a good decision. We found at least one major bug.

Is there anyone in the community who is developing for linux and has a Torque license and some free time? I just got an offer to run a dedicated server for our game, but the game server is a linux machine (its a real dedicated game server, so I really want to be able to run it on this machine). I'm hoping all that needs to be done is recompile it for linux, right? Anywone willing to do that for me?

@Xavier: can you confirm you got my email?

@Joseph: well thanks anyway, and if I can't get a hold of Xavier I'll just have to start bugging you ;)

@Ward: Sorry, yes I got your mail, but I couldn't respond since my email client is crashing on me for some odd reason when I try to compose, bah, the perils of using unstable software.
As for the response, yes, all that's needed basically is a recompile under linux, modification of makefiles and/or correction in file paths if needed, unless you have modified platform specific code in which case it would have to be ported to UNIX.

@Joseph: Thanks.

Joseph compiled it already, so I no longer need your help Xavier... but anyway thanks for offering, and thanks for the input.

It seems like the wheels snap back to place way too fast.

Also, it may just be my comp, but the framerate seems pretty slow.

You may want to disable the mouse driving controls. They get in the way far more often than they help.

You certainly made a lot of progress in about 5-6 weeks. Great job!
