Hi folks!

Let me start by saying i'm new to the Torque community. I been fartin' around with DBasic and Gamestudio for a while but, from what I seen, TGE blows them away, especially as far as multi-player capabilities go. Also, I find the forum here is much more mature. It just sucks me in and makes me want to post!

Unfortunately, I haven't yet purchased the engine, though I intend to as soon as I can convince someone to let me use their credit card. ;) So, as I cannot post anything really relevant to TGE, I'd like to throw a vague idea out for you.

What if gamepads had trackballs on them? You'd still have a D-pad and an analog stick, but instead of having a secong analog on the right, it would be a small trackball. Then a player could switch back and forth from gamepad to mouse, without dropping the gamepad.

Do you think this would be a novelty device, or would it have it's own place in the gaming market? Seems that every time I come up with a game concept I find myself thinking back to this gamepad setup. Also, where would someone find info on designing gamepads and such? I've searched Google to death, but can't seem to find anything on gamepad building/design/whatever.

Anyways, just a quick post to introduce myself. I promise I won't make it a habit! :)

Seems like it would be a useful device. You could always gut a gamepad/trackball and see if there's a way to build them together, but I don't know anything about it, and you'd still need drivers to use it with windows...

Yeah I think you're game pad sounds like a great idea! I would buy one if they were available but who knows how popular they'd actually be. With so many game pads out there it would probably be hard to compete, but the idea is original enough that it might work!
good luck and have fun!
