Bone Scaling question

I am trying to get bone scaling to work with DTS using 3dsMax Exporter, but I have not had luck getting it to work. Is there any example showing the type of bone scaling that I can use with Torque? Should I turn off "freeze Bone Length" and turn on thebone strething/squashing, or should I use the regular scaling from move/rotate/scale? I have tried both, and fail to work. Whenever I try any of these, I get only bone rotation, but no sign of bone scaling. Is there any special procedure that I need to do to get bone exporting to work? Thanks!

Do you know if turning scaling and non-uniform reduce performance alot?
Should I turn these parameters on when I export my DTS File(motionless) or should I turn it on only when I am exporting my DSQ files (the only source of animation in my case)?

I have had my bones and biped scaled during animation using the scale tool, Thanks! But Max's default bone squashing and strething don't seem to have any effect at all. :S
