Search Functionality Request

by Omnigalactic · in Site Feedback · 05/18/2004 (6:16 pm) · 5 replies

It would be nice if there were a way (Advanced?) to search *ALL* possible communities (Resources, Forums, etc.) at the same time when doing a search. Unless I've completely missed it, the only way to currently do this is using the same search term and performing multiple searches, one for each community.

Unfortunately doing this takes up a lot of CPU power on the server; although we have the code to do it, we've left it off because it just kills site performance. :-/

How about just forums and resources? I know atleast for me most of the code issues go through those two. (Unless there is something I dont know about the rest. Please enlighten me.)

OR

How about the ability to pick two or three but a limit of two or three.

Then you could maybe split the difference and balance it to performance issues.

Unless of course even single community searches are already pushing the limits.

What I would like is when searching resources, skip the plan's please ;)

When I'm looking for a resource I don't really care about developer plans.

Forums and Resources are the only thing I ever search. I'd be happy if just those two could be combined.
