Just wondering who will be attending the Australian Independent Games Developer's conference in Melbourne.
Do you guys wanna meet up or arrange for badges or stickers or something?

Well I'm going (got my tickets and everything). Dylan's idea about printing the GG logo out and pinning it on would proberly work. If someone wanted to get a template and then we could just print it out and laminate it, then pin it on with a safety pin! Unless someone has one of those thingo's that prints bages and wants to send a few out via express post ;) (although they are going on strike on Thursday aren't they?). Or you could make the pins and give us a password to give to that person to get our badges, lol.
This could be an easy fix if GG sold caps or something ;)

Unfortunately the car pool fell through so I'm stuck catching a bus (the person's car was totalled, typical). You're a student; if you tell them you're poor you can scam it for about $75 - $90. Just give Firefly, McCafferty's or Greyhound a ring and shop around.
Failing that, ask your parents for a loan. I'm sure they won't mind.
In response to the thread, yes I'm coming along as well.

I'm arriving in Melbourne Thursday morning (20 May), leaving the following Tuesday. I'd love to hook up with any GG-ers who'll be there. I'll be the token American accent...

Unfortunately I'm not well enough acquainted with Melbourne's districts to know a good place to rendezvous, but give us a time and a place and I'll be there.

I am. I work in the CBD :)
David & Everyone going
The most recognisable place would probably be flinder's street station. People usually use it as a meeting place. The venue is also pretty close, can probably catch a tram if walking is a hassle. If you'd like a classier place I could look up a good restaurant.
One of the guys had a great idea use iron on transfers. I'll run around the city tommorow and see if there are any $2 tshirts available. Then it's just print and iron ;)
The only issue I have is that I can't come on the friday due to work commitments. What I could probably do is meet up with some guys on thursday night and ask them to distribute. I'm not sure how many tshirt I can make, I've currently budgeted $50 out of my own pocket. Which is no biggie but any more than that and other people will have to pitch in.

I have 2 IGC t-shirts ('02 & '03), and a GG shirt...so I'm covered on the shirt angle.
I'm staying at the Victoria Hotel, which I hear is pretty close to where the conference will be held. Maybe MapQuest can get me to Flinder's Street Station. I'm planning to do some extensive walking around downtown Melbourne, see what I can see during my short stay.
Looking forward to being there. :)

I might shop around.. Like I said, I'll try and get there. I'm doing like 12 hours a day of uni work to try and get ahead so I can take the weekend off, but it doesnt look good.

David: what does the "official" GG Tshirt look like?
I will try and stay as consistent as possible.
Everyone else:
Managed to snag some $2 white tshirts from the reject shop. and found some iron on transfer paper. Now just have to print and iron.
I'm thinking small logo on front and slighty larger logo on the back.
After I make myself one, I'll have 4 left. If you want one let me know. Consider it a freebie.
I've got 1 medium
2 large ( one is mine or maybe i'll take an xtra large if someone really needs a large one ;) )
2 Xtra Large.
Send me an email.
PS. Does anyone have a digital camera they can bring along?

you can use www.whereis.com.au if you need a map.
victoria hotel is on little collins street, you'll have no problems getting to flinders st. It's about 5 minutes walk.
Melbournes pretty easy to get around David. The entire CBD has streets in a criss cross fashion and there's trams everywhere.
Can't say the same about Sydney though ;)

My GG shirt is olive with the GG logo on the front. And it needs ironing. Really bad.
I'll have a digital camera with me. Nothing special, but it works.
So, now we have a place (Flinders Street Station; is that a bar, BTW? Restaurant? Bus depot?) and we have a look (GG chic). I guess the next step is settling on a day and time?

Flinders St Station is the central train station in town. It has big steps and a big clock above the entrance, you can't miss it.
I'm coming in at about 7 am Friday morning, so I'm free anytime to meet after that.

I'd love to go but i have two uni exams during the event. Is there any chance of material presented at the IGDC being made available online for those of us who can't make it?

I think there's a party on after that goes until 9. What does everyone else say?
05/17/2004 (2:42 am)
So do we meet *after* everything has happened. I believe Harvey Smith's keynote speech is at the end of all the Friday proceedings, so maybe it would be a good time to meet then.I think there's a party on after that goes until 9. What does everyone else say?

That'd be fine. We could skip the whole station thing then and just find each other at the party.-David
