Anyone have any cool game ideas? I'm bored with mine(somehow they all turn into an rpg). I promise I won't steal them. I suck at everything anyway:(

- Each player has a staging area positioned on opposite sides of a map
- A flag/capture point randomly appears at certain points on the map and stays till captured
- Every tick (20 secs) 20 new units (adjustable) are created and head towards the capture point
- The units fall into your basic ground, air, and water rts categories (with appropiate drop ships to transport them to capture area)
- The player sets which units will be spawned...either by selecting a group of spawn points and globally setting it or by choosing individual points and setting it...the spawnpoints keep spawning the set unit type unless changed
- The player also sets the formation for the units
- If you spawn enough of a given type of unit then you unlock upgrades for that type
- The flag is captured by holding the point for 10 secs and then a new location pops up and all of the units at the old spawn self-destruct
- The game runs in 10 min (configurable) rounds with capture points tallied up
Sounds slightly complicated but it really isn't. The idea here is for a very rapid rts with huge flashy battles. I cooked up the concept when thinking about how to do a good rts on a pda. The game idea could as easily be done in 2D or 3D and would play solid even with hokey placeholder art. At some point I intend to prototype this game out myself but if anyone else wants to give it a go you have my blessing =)

Matthew I think you just gave me an idea for my next "code a game in a day" run :)

Hehe =) Tom Bampton (who posted the last 'game-a-day' devshot) and Nauris Krauze (extremely talented artist) have both expressed an interest in doing this as a 'game-a-day' project. Drop us a line and we'll set something up =)

Am currently working on a Simulation game.. just want something to say LOOK, my first game EVER! :)
RPGs are good.. but depends on what you are working with..
Here's an idea for you .. RPG, present day, detective.
The skills you work towards makes you a better detective .. maybe you didn't want that idea.. but ah well.
With all the ideas I think of, i'm sure i would have never got to that one. heh.
With Detective games, you can make more and more storys easy.
If you do make it, don't forget to mention my name! hehe.
