Been kinda tried before, but never got off the ground... XXX MMP

I can think of a few offhand that never happened. I'm currently entrenched in the late conceptual/early design phase of such a game.
Basically Sims Online with sex, or City of Heroes with ass licking not ass kicking (I love the sound of that haha) at it's most basic level. But no magic, no weapons, no items, no fighting. It's all about cultivating relationships with NPC characters and other players and getting laid. Even the sex isn't simple traditional sex, it's quite a bit more involved than that.

Ok we solved the female issue.
you select your gender.
and that is the perspective you take.
if you choose female everyone on your team is female
and the animations are that what you would expect.
and if you select male vice versa.
As well another twist.
if you have the most points at the end.
you end up as the victim next match... and the perspective is that of the developers choosing.
(heh you can stick it to em' or let em enjoy thier choices)
Adib:
heh yea I dont think I will be pursuing this.
feel free tho to take what you will of it.
I would play it.
Edit: typo.

First, the recent one: I was doing a web search on (free/unencumbered) 3-d models for a prototype, and came across some of the "mods" (I'd guess you would call them that) for "Poser". We're talking some -very- explicit sexual scenes here....
The "long time ago" one: I remember a text based game where the "win scenario" was pretty much exactly what is being described in this topic--do whatever you can to get laid, and importantly, to get laid -well- (how the ladies in the simulation responded was important) as much as possble. Personally, I can see at least a semi-sticky (pun intended? you make the call) game situation where you could attract a purient interest in not only how often, but how well, you scored with members of the opposite sex based on how you interacted with the simulation.
How "persistent" would it be? Probably not very amazingly (or revenue generating-ly), but I would also expect that even the current technology would arouse some pretty strong interest, given the existance (and therefore implied interest of) "virtual sex" video sites.

I'm going to (try) to tie together two concepts here--one that comes from my -long ago- (blush) gaming experiences, and one that was just recent.First, the recent one: I was doing a web search on (free/unencumbered) 3-d models for a prototype, and came across some of the "mods" (I'd guess you would call them that) for "Poser". It says it's in beta, but the beta testing message was posted in January 2003 (according to the text). So they probably aren't working on the game any more.
But it has lots of cool features listed, so you might want to take a look at it (if you can find without the url).
I don't think there's any ethical problems with this sort of game so long as you keep people under 18 out of the game somehow.
I suspect that there IS a market for this sort of game. I've seen advertisements for a number of games with pornographic content, and people seem to buy them even if the gameplay isn't all that great. Since people like porn and people like MMORPGs, there's no reason you can't mix the two.

I found an adult mmorpg with a simple search in a search engine. I decided not to post the url because alot of people on GG aren't old enough to view that sort of content. It says it's in beta, but the beta testing message was posted in January 2003 (according to the text). So they probably aren't working on the game any more.

Isn't anyone afraid of having virtual sex with a dude, or something?(or getting virtual AIDS)

Well, that's one of the side-effects of cybersex in general. Odds would be VERY good that sensuous young lady you just trysted with is actually some guy who's sitting in a room with friends, laughing their heads off at you, or something else equally disturbing... ;)

BTW, if there is a beer-bellied unshaven 50 something dressed in singlet and shorts, cigarette hanging out the side of his mouth, beer cans spread from one end of his computer desk to the other, who's real name is Ralph, who is also an indie creator on this forum, then this is not about you buddy, sorry :)

Yep, a beer-bellied unshaven 50 something dressed in singlet and shorts, cigarette hanging out the side of his mouth, beer cans spread from one end of his computer desk to the other, who's real name is Ralph, but goes under the cyber name of 'Sharlene', a 20 year old curvy blonde from Pennsylvania :)BTW, if there is a beer-bellied unshaven 50 something dressed in singlet and shorts, cigarette hanging out the side of his mouth, beer cans spread from one end of his computer desk to the other, who's real name is Ralph, who is also an indie creator on this forum, then this is not about you buddy, sorry :)

Don't forget that a lot of people reading these forums are under 18. Probably even under 15.

@Badguy What about homosexuals? I know you arnt doing it but still, it'd be best to add the choice of the person you are banging too. All though if the party was all the same sex along with the banged person, why not let the team have a orgy? We will never know....

..... I have been laughing so hard...... Thank you jeb that is a wonderful idea, the problems. The other people are probly all men. What about homosexual relationships? I was going to say something else but after reading this all, i forgot.... Sorry!@Badguy What about homosexuals? This makes me feel kinda bad that my game involves grabbing a girl (with a non-sexist option that it be a guy...) ;)

If I told you I was going to make a game where you run around killing and maiming people there'd be little or no discussion about it.
Mention sex and ethics and morals dominate the debate.
Interesting as well that people are questioning the point of the game or the winning condition when the 'point' of an FPS deathmatch is just as arbitrary as the 'point' of a sex oriented game.
Anyways I'm not putting forward an opinion either way, haven't played any adult games (except strip poker) so I don't know much about them.
But its very interesting to me that violence is far more acceptable than sex...
My two pence (or cents, I'm an NZ'er living in England :P )

The difference between kicking ass and licking ass is a typo.

Playboy: The Mansion
It's already being done!
....and anyone remember Leisure Suit Larry.... the whole point of that game was to find some women and have sex... and that game was succesful.
Nick, about that, killing and sex are two very different things... Consider sports... it is essentially a battle or war between two teams... no one is getting killed, but the principle is the same... so with games you have the same thing... no one really gets killed, its just a challenge, a battle. Sex, on the other hand, is a different kind of challenge... but the major difference is that it doesnt involve fighting necessarily... anyway, I'm not sure exactly what I'm saying, but the point is people view sex and violence on two separate levels.
Personally, I think there's nothing morally wrong with this... you just have to be tasteful about it... same thing with violence.

Um, I hate Leisure Suit Larry, I got that once, and my computer re-formatted itself. I think it itself is a bad, morally wrong concept. We already have enough trouble with Kids/Teens having sex and getting pregnant. I donno about you guys, but yes sex does sell, but are you going to sell sex, and possibly hurt peoples lives because they think sex is ok in a video game, so its ok to go have sex, or rape. Are you prepared to go to sleep at night thinking about that really?
#36
Other than that, I agree with Chris Timberlake.
09/18/2004 (1:06 pm)
Gah.. computers just don't reformat themselves becuase of a game, a format takes a good while and a game just doesnt do it, especially not a game that was commercial and had 4-5 sequels.Other than that, I agree with Chris Timberlake.

That's the same argument used in the violent videogame dispute. If you allow children to play Doom or GTA or Manhunt, they will disassociate killing from the idea of it being morally bankrupt. The idea of rape is actually closer to the violence and submission side of the spectrum than it is the sexual side of the spectrum. In case studies, most rape offenders find violence to be sexually gratifying. Now, I'm talking about knock-down back-alley style rape (the kind that the entire GTA board on GameFAQs was screaming should be included in Vice City and have been screaming should be included in San Andreas). When one gets into the date rape issue of consent and mixed signals, the lines start getting a lot more blurry on where the violence factor lies. It's clear in legal terms, but blurry in psychological terms.
Now, if you've played the first LLL, you'll remember that one of the big things about having sex with the prostitute was that you had to buy condoms. Otherwise it was game over for Larry. Which is pretty good sense, prostitute or not. While LLL was about "getting laid", it was more about low-brow humor and being the odd-man-out. I just wish that every game had an expletive input box.

Yeah I'm not sure what you're saying either. My point was that people do view violence and sex on two differnt levels, but in my opinion sex is a healthier ideal to promote than violence...
@ Chris
Nothing wrong with giving people the impression that sex is ok... not sure where rape came into it, and I don't think anyone was implying they should make a game about rape...?!?!
@ David
I agree, that is the argument people use about violent games. Logically (is this just me at this time of night?) games about sex would promote people having sex, which is something all (or almost all) adults do or persue.
Sex sells, but sex doesn't need to be sold.
Again not commenting on the quality of the game, or ideals in it, I personally think a well produced, sexually oriented game would make you money, AND shouldn't be subjected to such ethical and moral difficulties. Everyone has sex... not everyone kills or attacks other people. Why NOT make a game everyone can relate to on a personal level???

don't just limit it a man/woman combination either...open the door for all sorts of non mainstream stuff...midgets, fat people, old people, ugly people, homosexuality, hermorphadites, mass orgys, public sex, S & M sex, rape fantasies, you name it...just as long as kids and animals are taboos, it should all be good in the virtual sex playground...
Pornstar: Some people are intimidated by a dildo....to you its just another tool of the trade.
09/18/2004 (5:50 pm)
I think if you focus on letting people virtualy live out thier sexual fantasies, it could be a pretty cool game...make it more like the sims...sort of a virtual sex sandbox type thing then a more conventional game...maybe call it pornstar (erm maybe not as there was an old text basied game by the same name that predated Leasure Suit Larry) with the sorta non enforced idea that players are trying to break into and dominate the adult film industry...maybe even set it up so players can rank thier experiences with each other, maybe even do something simular to ebay in that reguard...don't just limit it a man/woman combination either...open the door for all sorts of non mainstream stuff...midgets, fat people, old people, ugly people, homosexuality, hermorphadites, mass orgys, public sex, S & M sex, rape fantasies, you name it...just as long as kids and animals are taboos, it should all be good in the virtual sex playground...

But a good amount of other things would be allowed. Allowing modding of a title like this would open some doors that you might not want (such as pedophilia scenarios, etc).
09/18/2004 (6:09 pm)
You would most likely have difficulty with rape fantasies in a US market as they are strictly forbidden (at least male-female or gangbang ones, and since the late 80's even F2F). It's been a touchy subject in the B&D and S&M industry for a while now.But a good amount of other things would be allowed. Allowing modding of a title like this would open some doors that you might not want (such as pedophilia scenarios, etc).
Torque Owner Badguy
heh I was just referring to something I played with once.
but to clarify it was an NPC the female.
and all the players would be using Male character models
If (??) the females wanted to play they would play as males.
it was a simple concept buds just changing the gameplay a bit for a quake2 mod.. dont worry I never finished it.
