Texturing help in Quark

Hello,
I've been attempting to find a tutorial or some information on texturing using Quark but so far I've had no luck. Pretty much my main question with texturing is how one would texture for example a window on the side of a building? Also, I made a very basic house with Quark - a box for the main level of the house and then another box for the roof (with the top vertexes angled in to accomadate for the slope of the roof). First of all, is this the best way of doing this? Also, I've attempted to use a shingle texture on the roof but it textures not only the slanted part of the roof (where shingles would obviously be) but the entire 'box'. Is there a way to only texture certain faces? I guess both of these questions are probably related and yes I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff (obviously) - any help or links would be appreciated...
