Cutscenes

I have been thinking about cutscenes a little bit. At first I was thinking of completely prefabbed sequences. Then I started to think about sequences that account for what has gone on in the gameplay.
For instance:
Lets say the cutscene starts and a character moves along a "path" to a prespecified location. When the character gets close the character toggles a "trigger" by walking into it. This trigger allows an event to occur and can make a decision as to which cutscene to use. If the player accomplishes a task the player could jump up and down and say "Wahoo" or if the task is not completed the player could fall their knees sobbing. This could make for some very interesting twists in plot. This is something you could not do without excessive amounts of prefabbed videos or sequences.
Also, for editing sequences it may be prudent to check out Blender. It was actually designed for making fully animated scenes with multiple objects. Maybe this will help for people looking for a cutscene sequence editor.
Just a thought,
Frank
