You do have Visual Studio .NET installed don't you? If you do then it sounds like the .sln file extension has been lost at some point. You can start Visual Studio .NET and open the file manually in this case.
If you have Visual Studio 6 installed then try using the "Torque SDK.dsw" workspace file instead.
