What's the optimal audio format? PCM .wav mono 44Khz 16b? 22Khz? 8b? Does it matter? Does Torque handle better .ogg files?

But that's not a solution, that's rising the volume from 0.8 to 1.0 :) Sound is still far lower than it's heard in any other program I use (i.e. windowd media player). I'm having the same problem too. And that's no the only one. We also have problems with audio length (somethings audios are cut), but that's another story. What's the optimal audio format? the control panel slider for hardware audio acceleration must be set to none.
Has anybody with the ability to do it considered patching OpenAL? It is open-source, right?

Spot on.
It didn't work at first, but worked like a charm after deleting the prefs.cs file.
Thank you.

I think it would be a good idea to set all 3 engine builds at 1.0 by default.
