World War II Media Pack

by Leadwerks · in General Discussion · 04/26/2004 (8:11 pm) · 64 replies

Hey guys, I am trying to get a feel for who we should be aiming this pack at. Your comments are welcome. What do you think a fair pricing is? Is there a special model or texture format that Torque users need us to include?

Check out more samples at www.leadwerks.com.

Thanks for your feedback.

Coming Soon: The World War II Media Pack contains all the models and textures you need to fill your WWII or other-themed game with art. The package includes approximately 20 weapon models, 8 vehicles, 100+ textures, 10 buildings and plenty more. All artwork is held to the highest standards of quality to ensure a professional look for your game.

Well considering that you can get all your game media for dirt cheap, maybe it's time to think about switching genres. That's what I would have done if someone else had come out with this.

I checked these out closer than a cursory glance, and although they are nice, they still need a little bit of tweaking. The trigger guards on most of the weapons need some work, especially the M1 carbine. I own one and that's the weakest point on the model. The BAR needs a bipod, and the magazine needs to be a little longer, it's a bit too short. Some of the barrels are too thin, especially the m1 carbine and the Thompson. The Thompson is a .45 caliber weapon and needs a much thicker barrel. The MP40's front sight needs some tweaking as well.

Overall, though, I respect what you guys are trying to do, and appreciate it very much. My criticism is meant to be constructive and not trying to hurt anybody's feelings. It's just that I own a M1 Garand, a Carbine, a 1903, and a Kar98, plus I have dozens of books on WWII weapons, so I'm aiming for a lot of accuracy in my game.

Also, I'm glad you got rid of that impeach Bush ad. A commercial site should stay out of the political arena.

I'd be your very first customer, but I'm on vacation. :) I will purchase it as soon as I get home though!

Congratulations to everyone at Leadwerks! Every model and building appears to be very high quality from the screen shots.

I'm still jealous--we're a medieval/fantasy based project, but those models are pretty amazing.

If you are considering any form of Medieval Content Pack, PLEASE let us know, we'd be extremely interested in helping to guide the content needs, and (of course) would be looking at purchasing the final pack!!

I think it is a good price that The GameCreator site has it for. $39.95 each or pack 1 & 2 for $71.90. I don't think you can get this many models for this price if you had to hire an artist to make them. Excellent package for someone who needs this type of media and at a low cost. Here is the link to the model list if someone is interested: ww2media.thegamecreators.com/?f=model_info

Same deal on leadwerks too. We make more money off of sales on our own website :D

Please order from www.leadwerks.com if you heard about it from us. TGC sells mostly to DarkBasic users, and we came out here to try to get Torque users to come to our site. Our pricings are the same, but more money goes to the authors if it is ordered on our site. Of course, if you heard about it from TGC, you should order from them.

You definitely would never be able to hire an artist to make this media for the same price. Hiring an artist for exclusive media like this would probably cost you $15,000-20,000.
