New Orbz Courses!

by Justin Mette · in General Game Discussion · 04/19/2004 (5:28 pm) · 7 replies

The Wingman Server has 3 new courses; Hermit King by Pronell Mordini, Majestic Staircases by Degree, and Northern Lights by Shakey Bonez. The complete Map Pack for Wingman's Server should be downloaded from www.gamingprojects.com and installed before you play on the server. Also note the Map Pack now has a version number (v1) to help keep track of all these great new courses being developed by the community!

Looks like we may have a bug on the Mac. If you are using a Mac to play Orbz, please wait to install this latest Map Pack until we have the issue resolved.

Nightmare, Dusky Gulch still has some issues with performance but we didn't want to hold up the release of the other approved maps. We'll try to get the Gulch running better and approved ASAP.

Justin i did a console test on the Dusky Gulch today and here is the results on my system for a 2 minute match:

High fps: 109.2 Low fps: 24.5 Average fps: 49.6029

Those are pretty high numbers and works fairly well. No slowdowns or anything on my computer. Theres only one problem i see with this level: When i shoot the orb, the yellow trail (not the orb trail the yellow beam) its not connected to the orb its separated and a little far behind the orb. It doesnt cause any problems with the level, but its just a little bug that happens on my system.

Ok, there are now two downloads - one for Windows and one for Mac. Let me know if there are any problems.

Nightmare - sounds like it runs OK on your machine. However, the machines I tested on (obviously lower end than yours) it runs under 20fps which is too slow.

Oh i see. yeah it runs OK on my machine. Thats about as fast as all the other levels on my computer (except for mystic springs is 47.0 around there) I noticed that what runs fast on my computer sometimes runs slower on others computers and vice versa. The Davy Jones Locker level actually runs slower on my machine but faster on everyone elses, and when i gave my Icy Doom level to slacker to try it out a long time ago he said it ran too slow but it ran fast on mine. Oh well :-)

It all depends on which video card you have, how much memory is on your machine, and the speed of your CPU. Since these vary drastically from machine to machine - games tend to have different performance traits on those different machines.

Oh yeah well my computer was very expensive its a 2.80 ghz computer and it runs really fast and i have a LOT of space so thats probably the reason why.
