Lol, that's cool. Probably to make people buy the sequel.

Gee, you think? :P

It would be ironic if the re-release of these games eclipsed T:V... ;)

Garney Garney :P

Anyone knows what engine Dynamix uses right now?

Dynamix uses none, they are disbanded

However, I think, Tribes 3 uses the Unreal engine.

Are Dynamix disbanded? That is news to me. Hmm.

Stefan:

Bah, everyone does nowadays. I don't think it's THAT good from what I've seen and played, the networking code is.. well. original. :P

Yeah I'm looking forward to buying the magazine once it's in stores so I can have and check out that special edition DVD that way I won't have to wait for hours in huge lines at Fileplanet to grab it from. It will be interesting to see what kinds of modifications they made or they're just basically releasing the games with their latest patchs and redid their logos with special edition labeled on it with T:V references plus with a Buy Tribes 3 Now! button right smack in the middle! :D

About Dynamix, yeah it's been disbanded/dead for several years now and GarageGames was founded by the very guy who founded Dynamix and is being ran by several folks from Dynamix, so we're all in good hands when it comes to Torque. :)

Heh. Stefan, you might be really surprised to find out what several of the Dynamix crew ended up doing after their studio was shut down by their parent company...

I just thought GG were some of the programmers who left :P Kinda, but now that you say it.. well, I was lost.

That's pretty cool.

Edit: Grammar.

Oh man... if this brings more people back into Tribes or Tribes 2, I'm gonna have to suit up again. I love those freakin games. Anyone can feel free to message me for a duel or round of arena anytime :) (note: that's not me claiming I'll beat you.. just me saying it'd be fun)

As for T3.. I am sad that Dynamix isn't making it, but it looks like the folks at Irrational are being pretty cool about it all. I'm glad that guys like Kinetic Poet are working on the dev team. Everything I've seen and read about it so far looks great.

Yes, they are using the Unreal engine. Though they've ripped out all of Unreal's physics and are using a combination of Karma and they're own stuff. I think they should rip out Unreal's net code and use TNL too. :)

Ok, now I'm off to go play some Legends.

Yep, Jeff was the founder of Dynamix orignally, Mark Rick and Tim were all programmers at Dynamix.

Dynamix was shut down by Sierra shortly after they all left, and after Tribes 2 shipped.

Oh I thought they were forced to leave because of the shutdown.
someone hinted that above in the thread I think :S

Man, the FIRST thing I did when I got DSL was to play tribes 2 again.. I STILL love it. T2 + BassDrive (online drum and bass radio station) IS the way I relax...

FilePlanet has run out of Tribes 2 keys. They will soon have more, so keep checking back for more information.
Tribes 2 had a limited amount of keys and are now temporarily gone! Keep checking the site for when we post more!!
Sierra had this to say.
We need to look at how our servers are holding up to the relative onslaught of new accounts and determine if we can give FilePlanet the OK to distribute more CD-keys.

Imagine that! They do have more CD keys now :)

Burning, are you sure? I checked right as I read and the download is still closed.

Funny thing was, is i'd guess they only had 50,000 keys to begin with.

When major demos are hitting the million download mark, they think they can get away with 50,000 keys for a free AAA game.

Hmm someone needs to think a little harder.

However it is still very noble of them, and Tribes 1 is excellent too :)
