Lost in TorqueSpace

Hello guys,
I just purchased TGE and I'm starting to play around with it but I'm a little bit lost
looking for the documentation.
Having a Mac also doesn't help me much. But at least I don't have to buy a PC.
What I have done :
I've downloaded and printed Devon Ly's Tourniquet Guide 1b.
I've accessed the Torque Game Engine Documentation in http://www.garagegames.com/docs/torque/general/
I've followed the first thru section 3 and the latter thru chapter 6.
Both docs teach me how to MOD an existing game but I am looking for something that teaches on how to create a game from scratch.
Tourniquet also suggests downloading stuff from several places that may have moved, or won't run in a Mac :
QuaRk ( couldn't find it on www.fileplanet.com ) Is there something else mac-compatible;
Tribal IDE, dowloaded a .vl2 file which I don't know what to do with it.
Half Life, only found a new version,75Mb PC executable, don't know how I'll be able to extract the WAD files out of it.
Since 3DS max and Milkshape are PC only, where can I find a Lightwave exporter ? Is there something else easier to use ?
Is there an email oriented MacTorque group ?
Is there ANY other Torque Mac User in BRAZIL ?
TIA

@Bruno - I think you may be confusing QuArk with Hammer. Quark is the Quake editor and Hammer is the Half Life editor. Either way, Half Life is not required to run Hammer. I'm not sure which resource it is, but if you do a search on Hammer here in the GG community, you'll find the configuration to use that only requires pointing at the Torque specific items (for Hammer).
Still, QuArk is (arguably) the better tool to use. Once again, not sure which resource, but there should be a link to the QuArk for Torque specific version of QuArk. This is the version you want since it specifically exports to the DTS format for Torque.
The best way to dive into creating a game from scratch is to probably do a mod tutorial or two, check out Desmond Fletcher's Tutorials on portals, etc and then read through the code.
If I've missed something, feel free to search your key topics in both Forums and Resources. The community has quite a bit of resources concerning anything you can come up with.
As far as Mac goes, beats me what works on it, hehe. I'm PC all the way, been assimilated and all.
Good luck and game on.

Ug, 2 posts != spam, unless I'm missing something. Why not just help the dude and play board police somewhere else? I've notice slamming of other people for the same reason. Let's be realistic, when a board is broken up such as GG's is, it may seem like you need to post in multiple sections. Does this post go in tools? or game development? or something else. Give people the benefit of the doubt.@Bruno - I think you may be confusing QuArk with Hammer. Quark is the Quake editor and Hammer is the Half Life editor. Anyway. Just on the off chance the GG search is broken (if it's not *ahem* you should use it).
I believe the only Mac BSP editor is Radient, and that has licensing issues. Basically you can't easily create interiors on the Mac. (There was a very recent discussion on this). I believe VirtualPC allows you to run QuArk, but I think they recently got eaten by Microsoft.
There's Maya and Lightwave exporters, which are both available for the Mac(?).

Cross posting is a big no no on the vast majority of the net. It's a bad habit. If Jarrod hadn't linked the two then people wouldn't know which one to post to etc. and most won't bother.Anyway. Just on the off chance the GG search is broken (if it's not *ahem* you should use it).

We're working on getting better mac support. Sorry about the trouble. ;)

Thanks for the reply.
Actually, I don't want to edit Half Life. The only reason I want it is for the WADs that the Tournique guide mentioned.
Anyway, I managed to find and download a Torque Quark editor. Let's see how it works in VPC.
Best Regards
Bruno
P.S.
Jarrod and Gareth,
1) I'm not spamming. There is a forum for documentation ( I am seeking documentation ) and there is a forum for mac ( I am a mac developer ). So each forum gets it's own post. Even though they are 80% alike they are both different.
2) Torque documentation is not that easy to find. Every post in the resources points to other post, or dowloading a third party tool. The ONLY pdf that I found was Devon Ly's Tournique guide.

Gareth, I understand what you are saying. At issue here is the number of times that "policing" has occured without an ounce of assistance being provided. Now, I know that no forum exists without it's obligatory self proclaimed board police. However, GG has a system that actually promotes cross posting.
A. There are areas where an issue "belongs" in more than one category.
B. GG has nicely divided up categories for posting.
C. Users may filter groups they are not interested in.
C is the interesting one, in that someone who reads the "Documentation" section may very well NOT read the "Macintosh" section.
The point is to keep this a community that assists each other and check the ego's at the door.

A *lot* of us read all the forums and cross posting in more than one forum quickly looks like spamming to us. But most new people have no way of knowing that =)

Most of us do subscribe to all the dev forums, and you're sure not going to get Torque help from people who don't subscribe to the Torque forums...

Yeah, the filtering is in there more to let people drop forums they don't want to read (like the ThinkTanks forums, which briefly held a position of some notoriety). All a matter of point of view, of course. :)Most of us do subscribe to all the dev forums, and you're sure not going to get Torque help from people who don't subscribe to the Torque forums...

Most people read the forums with the excellent "unread posts" tool, therefore all your identical questions will appear on that list, as well as on search etc. If you think the question actually has different answers depending on the forum then tailor it. Just trying to maintain information integrity for future users. If everyone cross-posted all his or her posts to every possible relevant section, the forum would be worthless.
To be honest I find the fact you didn't take the 10 seconds to use the search button, more annoying. We all know the docs can be a bit fragmented. But I assure you learning to find them is an important a skill as learning the code :)
Shane, if someone filters out a group because they don't want to see it you think it's fair to 'cross post' and avoid that? If an issue belongs in more than one category, you post it once, solve it then post a solution in the other section. And even that probably isn't necessary if you have a well named topic... but i'm not going to go there :)

Bruno, I didn't say you were 'spamming'. I said you cross-posted. And you did. It's not a case of you doing it here; it's a case of doing it at all. Try cross posting a question on Usenet and see how far you get. Most people read the forums with the excellent "unread posts" tool, therefore all your identical questions will appear on that list, as well as on search etc. If you think the question actually has different answers depending on the forum then tailor it. In my defense, and due to my lack of clearly explaining my point, I don't think "it's fair to cross post." Yet, I can see how someone new to the community may do it due to the community structure. Knowing this, I don't see how it benefits anyone to flame someone for cross posting without, in turn, answering the question asked, which is precisely what the second post in this topic did.

I'm sorry this has turned into a debate. I completely understand your points (Ben and Gareth). @Shane: Hey, as long as you get your question answered, it's all good.
