Shortcut the Developers missed?

I only beat the first advanced level once, but I got a final time of 19.61. The gold time is 30.00 seconds. :)
There is a shortcut from the beginning of the level where you hold up while he says "READY", and jump and land a split second after he says "GO" (giving you a little speed boost), then you hold up and try to jump to the far side. (Yes, I mean you have to clear the huge gap.) If you manage to hit the part that is angled to the right, you might bounce right and roll straight up the hill. After that, all you have to do is get over the last big hill and you are at the finish!
Anyone, feel free to beat that time since I had no idea where I was supposed to go when I first beat the level.
I'm just wondering if the developers knew about this shortcut. :)

...and now I just did the ultimate shortcut, but my friend found it. When you start just jump onto the hill at the right, immediately turn around, and go full speed towards the blocker and jump. You'll barely clear the blocker on the second time and land right on the goal. 8.35 new time. :)

Duh. my time is 6.34. as soon as it says go, just roll and jump towards the end. you'll hit the block, bounce up, then land on the finish pad.

Yes there are a few gold times that are significantly above the actual perfect completion time. There's always a better route, it seems :)

I found a different way to do it. i go up the first slope then up the "skilift" and from that i jump to the catwalk leading to the finish

Way to go Debbie!

Yes, that was the same thing I said, only I called it a hill instead of a ski lift. :)

So you went up the first hill, then up the thing that carries you up the second hill, and still got a 6:10? Yowsers.
I can't beat the level by jumping right into the blocker - I keep bouncing right back no matter where I jump. Is there some special method other than just jumping into it?

No wait, we took two entirely different methods. I can be stupid sometimes. :)So you went up the first hill, then up the thing that carries you up the second hill, and still got a 6:10? Yowsers.

No i did it to seperate ways. lol i took a leap of faith 1 way (the 6:10) and the other way was my second score there

Try getting a running start from one of the corners and then head toward the other corner that should give you enough momentum to leap over the boilerplate that blocks the finish. You might also try jumping(space bar), but I don't know if that helps or not.
Remember: You can "not" clear the boilerplate from the start pad. You must back up to a corner and get a running start.
solo.

Thank you for the explanation. Actually, I WAS able to clear the boiler plate from the start, and I have a lovely 4.93 seconds for that level now. :)
All you have to do is time your first jump so that you land right after the guy says "GO!", then continue holding in the space bar. You will jump forward pretty darn fast, and you will land just in time to make the final jump toward the boiler plate. I can clear the thing just fine, but I find it is faster to tip the top of the plate so I can fall down straight toward the goal.

Will'OWisp must be one of those "perfect" times because I can can't achieve it. :: (

Hint: skip the large round playforms at the start by dropping strait down from the starting platform to the first gem. Mark will have to elaborate himself for more... his technique is subtle and refined beyond my comprehension.

Will'O Wisp is one of Mark's favorite levels. You could tell, I see? :)Hint: skip the large round playforms at the start by dropping strait down from the starting platform to the first gem. Mark will have to elaborate himself for more... his technique is subtle and refined beyond my comprehension.

I found his posted technique, but like you said, they are
I have to 'refine' my technique to trim the extra seconds off.

When you first start off, rotate the camera so that you are almost facing where the finish is, but so that the corner of the platform you are on is in the center of the screen. Hold up as soon as you start off, and keep holding up until you roll off the starting platform. As soon as you touch the the ground after the starting platform, hold up and right, then right AFTER you roll off the edge, hold down the jump button. The marble will jump really high as soon as it touches the edge of the tube beneath it, and you will soar over to the other side of the tube. It's pretty hard to land it, but try holding down and left and certain points and eventually you will land on it safely. After that, you are right next to the finish line!
