I am a dynamix game fan, i'm claiming that set till the day i die...seriously.
I grew up with their games.
Anyways, i want to REMAKE "project firestart"
Project firestart was a little gem for c64, well it was a multiple disk game so it wasn't little, and it is MY FAVORITE GAME for 64.
I would like to know if this would cause any legal problems. (like me getting my self sued into oblivion)
Of course i would not be selling this game, it would be freeware, and credit would be given where credit is due.
I would be using the ags engine http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/
with a platform engine in ags.
Would this be acceptable?

Electronic Arts owns the IP to that product. Just don't call it Project Firestart. We always called it Project Prometheus until right before we shipped it. If you Google Prometheus, you will get it.

I most definitely see patterns in Dynamix games, the linking and association of the various games throughout the years is one of the main reasons i am a ravenous fan.
well then i'm going to make this happen.

If you are going to try to remake something like this, hunt down the original copyright owners with a friendly message. This is one of those abandonware titles where the publishers are long gone or don't want anything to do with the game anymore except to call it a success.
Anyways, here's the Underdogs site on it if anyone is interested:

PS Project Prometheus is the name of a NASA manned project to send a mission to Mars.

It is not completely unheard of for publishers to issue cease and desist orders to those involved in creating remakes.
Besides, they may actually like the idea and be able to offer inside information or other advice.
