- You want Detailmaps for DTS Shapes ???
- You need Detailmaps for DTS Shapes ???
Suprise, here we go ;-)
Add this texture:

with this texure:

and you will get this in the TGE

how is this working ?? Just create a Milkshape model, set the Flags to Mesh and Material and export it with the new version of my ms2dts exporter ;-)
I will upload the new version when I finished a tutorial for using this new feature.
What have you to do in the Torque Game Engine to activate this feature ???
- nothing, its all already there.
Is milkshape the only exporter with this feature at the moment ???
- no, David Wyand is also adding this stuff to his Lightwave exporter (at this point, a special thanks to you David)

Looking good Sven! If it weren't for you asking the question, I wouldn't have looked into it.
Expect an official announcement for the LightWave DTS Exporter soon...

I have uploaded the new version of the exporter, post a tutorial (german/english), and update my resource (because I don't won't to have hundreds of resources)
So, the download and the tutorial can be found at our homepage in the Arthouse (or German Version if you prefer german or you want to learn it ;-))
Next step is to send the source to Tim Gift, than going back to IFL support ;-)
have fun

This is really great news Sven! :) I will have to check it out. I can't wait for the IFL support. Any chance that we will see blend animations for the Milkshape exporter? Is that at all possible with Milkshape?Matt

This is to show that the functionality of multitexturing exists inside the MS3D and LW exporters.
Or will this revolutionize my use of Torque in other ways aswell ??
In plain english: what can I use it for (yeah, I know I'm dumb!?!!?

Wow very nice! I will try this as soon as I get around all the other stuff in the TGE :)

Jorgen, it sounds like nothing needs to be done to the engine to make this work. Very cool. :-)-Eric F

If anyone put the support to the other exporters, they also will export models with detailmaps.
It seems the TGE and the DTS format are hiding more goodies, than we all know.

Jorgen, Eric is right. This stuff is already in the TGE, in facts this was in there before i following to watch the "change List" of the Torque (maybe since Tribes 2).If anyone put the support to the other exporters, they also will export models with detailmaps.

Quote:For all and nothing ;-). Multitexturing is just combine two textures, A base texture with a second detail Texture.
what can I use it for

I wonder if this could also be added to map2dif?

Hmm, could I have a detailtexture with a alpha-channel and gradually fade it in ontop of the base-texture..??
#12
I don't think so, btw. not so easy. For the Shape stuff there was all there. the Interior stuff hasn't the detailmaprendering. So anyone have to add this first.
@Jorgen,
I'm not sure, in the DTS File isn't any entrie for fading alpha-channels, but you can use a detailtexture with alpha-channel (maybe it won't be used, i don't know ???)

I have to clean it up, as it's in a broken state atm, having started to add q3a shaders like functionality (which is far from done)
I'll try to find some time this week to release the simple detail map stuff for .difs

I have done it for map2dif, well, actually, for interiors, directly in engine : you can change detail textures with a mapping system like the one for adding sounds to a material. I have already implemented blended animations in the milkshape exporter. The code changes are fairly small if anyone is interested.
Great work so far Sven!

do you want informations to add this to the max2dts exporter, or do you mean how to use detailmaps in the current max2dts exporter (this won't work, because the current max exporter didn't support detailmaps) ???
