Greetings!

It looks like only members of the Yahoo group may view the files section.

Yes this is true, but membership is automatically granted to anyone who applies to join the group, the group does not send spam email and it is easy to quit. It does require you to have a yahoo user id though.

I'm really not interested in joining any kind of Yahoo (or otherwise) group. If cashflow for hosting is an issue, how about creating a free site on GeoCities to show off some samples, and link that with the group for subscribers/customers/opt-in lists, etc.?

I like the yahoogroup because it has nice automated image uploading, no bandwidth restrictions, no obnoxious ads that obstruct the page's content, and they keep track of who looks at my portfolio, which I want to know. But if you want to see a few of my clothing designs to convince you it's worth joining the yahoogroup, My Samples Page has a few examples:

Yes, my page includes lingerie designs, so it has to be classified as an adult site, which you must be 18 to look at. If you're 15 do you even have the ability to pay for my designs? If not, no point in looking at them.

Certainly some, ah, interesting literature at the bottom of that link there.

Yes, I write romantic erotica, usually gay male romance of a science-fiction/fantasy flavor. *shrug* That's just what I like to write.

Bahahah oh my god Scott, you hit this one right on the button. Sorry Mare but this burn is a good one :)

BTW Mare: It would probably be wise from a marketing perspective to segment your market a bit. Not only have a non-yahoo site for those who dont like registering for your yahoo site, but also have a non-adult themed section.

Also, dont knock the 15 year olds too much... generally they dont have the capital for very much purchasing power, but if they are working on a project and like certain things, they will buy some.

And fyi, I was for a brief moment in the "SCA Folk" bucket

and had been for a long time in the "Roleplaying Gamers" bucket...

but alas, nowadays the lowest bucket I can claim to be in is the "Anime Fans Who Dont Care About Subtitles" bucket. (and I dont think ANYONE would think that those who insist on Subtitles are less geeky)

Dude, I am in 6 or 7 different places on that chart, lol. And it doesn't even include the odder half of my hobbies. ;)

As for marketing, if I was actually selling any clothing designs then it might be worth it to follow those suggestions, and also go through my current examples and re-illustrate the oldest ones because I can draw better than that now. But since the only person who actually ordered any backed out of paying for them, I'm waiting for some sign that there IS a market to cater to. :/

Well, i think the point is to make changes to your marketability to get clients, not the other way around

also, i havent checked your yahoo site, so i really cant comment on your actual strategy much.

Your a woman and you write gay male novels and poems? I thought even most women found the sight of two guys kissing to be gross. How long have you been drawing?

No, there are about as many women who think gay guys are hot as there are men who think lesbians are hot. Of the gay romances which have been written, at least half have been written by women rather than actual gay guys. And I started drawing in elementary school so it's been a long, long time ;) but I started seriously studying anime style when I entered college, which is 7 years ago now.

I actually find your first statement rather dubious.. (unless by 'about' you mean 'far less')

but alas, this is not a fourm about human sexuality, or i'd put you school :P

i actually think your art work is quite good. Have you thought about transfering your talent to computer-generated 2d art? I think your clothing design would lend well to vector graphics.
