Nova: The End of Peace

Hello all :)
I currently have a pet mod project, called Nova: The End of Peace, for the updated version of the game Freespace 2 (www.3dap.com/hlp).
However, I'm quite proud of it, and believe that it has the potential for a commercial release. You can read more about the game details at the end of this message.
I am currently in need of programmers and texturers. Also, some knowledge of using Torque would be appreciated.
I can model, draw, and write, and with Freespace 2, table (which is basically telling the game how the ship would handle). Of course, tabling doesn't work with Torque, and if it's possible, if you're a programmer and you apply, maybe you could set up a system like it?
Also, Torque is not suitable for a space sim, I might try to switch this to a FPS. But, I would prefer to do a space sim.
Lastly, if you want to see the gameplay that I have so far, and have Freespace 2, drop me an e-mail or a reply, and I'll send you what I have.

----Game Concept, design, etc
(most of this info can be found in more detail onthiswebpage.)

The game is set roughly 200 years in our future. That means, no aliens, no evil alien relics. Just people, those people being mostly the USA, the EU, and China, specifically.

There's the overview. This is taken from the website:

The US launches a highly-advanced capital ship, the Pontomac using experimental technology. The ship is assigned to research the crab nebulae, however, after about 5 weeks of exploration, it is lost to a violent nebulaic (is that a word?) storm.
An exploration is launched, however, no trace is found. The ship is assumed to have been vaporized, and the case is closed.
A year passes. More technological progress is made within the EU and the US. China, however, shows no signs of any progress. But it is easy to tell that they're hiding something.

Another year passes, and China suddenly bursts onto the scene with some very big news: for the past two years, they have been building the most advanced starship ever constructed. The statistics are amazing, 5 miles long, 2 wide, 20,000 crew members, a fully-equipped science station, 6 heavy ion beams, and numerous smaller turrets. China says that construction is expected to be completed within another year, which is quite fast for a ship of it's size. However, China refuses to say where the ship is being constructed, until the final moment, when the ship is finally undocked from port, amongst much fanfare.
The US and the EU are obviously perplexed by this apparant quantum leap in technology. However, the publicly released blueprints show nothing out of the ordinary.
When the EU and the US start to press, China announces that it will sell the techonology to anyone who wants it. This effectively shuts the EU up, as they get a great source of top-of-the-line equipment, for bargain bin prices.

However, the US refuses. They go back to examining the documents. Something seems strange....some of the subsystems have been moved, altered, or even removed. They begin to conduct further investigations.......

Gameplay concepts (taken from the website):

Nova will also include a radical change to normal Freespace 2 game play. Capital ships will now have more powerful but less anti-capital weaponry, more powerful anti-fighter weaponry, and all weapons (with the exception of beam cannnons) must now take limited ammo into consideration. That includes primary weapons, which will now be machine guns and cannons.

Lastly, the other major change will be the introduction of more space-y physics, where you can slip and slide, roll and dodge almost as if you were really in space. The action is also planned to be faster and edgier than ever before.

Here's an image of the current fighters I have. More pictures, and a link to more pictures of a different craft, are available on the page.

So, do I have any takers? :)

I'm running out of room in the message above, so I thought I should post this tidbit:

I am NOT going to register this as a project, or buy a liscence to the Torque engine, until I have a team. I don't want to get everything set, and then have everything pulled out from under me :)

There's a few people doing space games with torque, so it's definatly possible. Infact I believe there's been a few hints about a 'space-sim' starter pack sometime in the future.

Given the large amount of space sims that seem to have poped up out of nowhere (from a previously rather slow market) you might want to consider the commercial viability again. But if you have a good amount of assets shouldn't be too hard to convert.

Is there no one out there who could help with this? I'd really like to get my baby to the big leagues :)

None of your links load. Not sure if the site is down or what.

One reason I didn't express my interest is that you don't state what someone who helps you will get. Are you paying for mods to the Torque Engine? You seem unwilling to go out on a limb and invest the 100 bucks to get Torque so my guess this is a work for credit project?

Also you state "pet mod project, called Nova: The End of Peace, for the updated version of the game Freespace 2" Do you have the rights to Freespace 2 IP so that you can market a mod?

The site is up, just the second link doesn't load. Try the first link again.
And you are correct in your assumption, I am sorry for not stating the payment methods. You (being anybody, not specifically you) get a certain percentage of the profit, when and if the game is released, based on what you did.
The work would be divided up into several sections (each a percentage, altogether totalling 100%), based on the number of team members. A member would select which items he would like to work on. Whatever sections he/she completes, he/she would have that percentage payed to them in cash.

And about the mod bit: The game has nothing to do with Freespace 2. I was/am simply using the graphics engine for my storyline. As such, nothing in my mod has any correlation to Voliton (the developers of FS2) or Interplay (the publishers), because they are my intellectual property.
And, as a side note, I'm trying to negotiate for a liscence of Freespace 2's engine. I'd prefer to use that engine, if at all possible, rather than Torque, because I am more familiar with Freespace 2's capabilities, and how to use the engine.

Thats all good.

When will you decide on the engine? I would hate to throw my hat in do some work only to have it all made useless because you get access to the Freespace engine.

The FS engine is probably isn't gonna happen (V hasn't replied, and I don't have too high hopes). :(

I'm thinking maybe just use Torque, although that would mean more staff members would be needed to do stuff that I usually could do in the Freespace engine. Torque is cheap enough to afford, and is able to be expanded to include new features. :)

EDIT:
Other alternatives include:

Ca3D
Genesis 3D
or possibly the 3D Game Studio

EDIT: I've changed my project. I've decided to use the Nebula engine, of Project Nomads fame. It's free, and very powerful and good-looking :)

So, do I have anyone willing to join this project? :)
