Don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but Torque was mentioned on an article about Indie game development in the Mainstream UK newspaper The Guardian.

That was a very interesting article.

It definitely sounds like the indie movement is gaining some steam.

Thats fantastic publicity :) Strange how these things pop up.

It's a pity that they linked to all those other sites, but not to GG, at the end of the article.

Agreed. Did anyone see an address to which to send mail about their articles?

For the truly lazy, the paragraph about Torque. :)

"Many indy games are just hacked versions of existing games - known as "mods" - that place a layer of new graphics over an existing game engine; 9/11 Survivor uses bestselling combat game Unreal Tournament 2003. But now an independent game engine called Torque, built by Oregon-based start-up Garage Games, is threatening to slash the cost of game production. Under the maxim "world domination through collaboration", the company publishes games under its own label and licenses the engine to other indies for as little as $100. It might sound like a cottage industry, but Garage Games has already established a community of over 40,000 members working on more than 1,000 game projects."

1000 games! Wow, didn't realize there are that many.

I really like , "world domination through collaboration", phrase.

Game projects... If they got that number by seeing how many "companies" there are in our database, it's probably pretty generous. ;)

But each one has an average of 400 people, so that's pretty awesome.

You might be able to e-mail the journalist at the Guardian direct.

From the dealings I've had with them their e-mail addressing is firstname.surname@guardian.co.uk, so in this case it would be sean.dodson@guardian.co.uk. Cant say for sure though, he might be a regular freelancer so doesnt have a Guardian e-mail.

They have forgotten to tell that GG founded by industry veterans, and TGE is the smarter children of the engine behind the wellknown Starsiege Tribes labels. Or it isnt inteterting anymore ?

It was the article in the Guardian that introduced me to GG, and eventually led to my purchase of the TGE. Before reading it I hadn't imagined that there was an engine out there in my price bracket. It seemed too good to be true, but if the Guardian was endorsing you, well, you must be okay. I'm still comfortably lost inside the massive Torque world, and loving every minute!
