Hi all
Iam a 3dgs a5 com user atm thinking to upgrade to a6 or torgue
and iam looking for advice on your opinions.
i downloaded the torque demo and thought the terrain was totaly awsome (the ability to raise and lowere and change things so easy was awsome)and the skies were great

however iam a extreme noob to programing and iam afraid if i did upgrade to torque i would be stuck

what i meen by stuck is a5 it is very easy to make a script and make a mdl do somthing (for example click the model then go to properties and select the script u want)

my qustions how easy is it to do this in torque
also i think torque will require somthing called a compiler
any suggestions on what one to get anda third question is would a program called treemagik pro be compatible (its a fun little tree maker program i like).

today i was able to use mikshape and make a model and input that model into torque without animation very cool

Hello Jonathan,
"I feel your pain" :)
I have just purchased Torque and am beginning to learn C++. I started learning C++ a couple years ago and I'm ready to return. I also used A5...breifly. I own A6 Commercial & not to knock Conitec because I really do respect those guys, but the A6 version is still in need of improvements. Also, many of the old scripting functions and such do not work with A6. They've decided to do some restructuring and I truly believe, unfortunately, that they've decided to take a very bad direction. In my opinion, new versions should ALWAYS support old versions commands; however, that doesn't seem to be the directions they've decided to take.

I agree with many of the others & personally I feel that if a person has to take even 3 to 4 months learning and relearning a scripting language, well...that person would probably be much better off spending that time learning a true, legitimate language such as C++...and that is where I believe Torque will be a good choice.

Keep in mind though:
I'm a nooby as well!
Peace and good luck friend.
