Does Max2Map Exporter work?

Hey all!

I just decided to try the max2mapExporter plugin with my copy of Max 3 and it doesn't seem to do anything. I load the max file which is a very simply scene, and then chose export and select the WorldCraft 3.3 map format as the file type. once I tell it to export, the export window closes and when I browse the the folder I told it to export to, there's no file there.

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm not sure but I think you need Max4 to be able to use most of the plugins available.

Nevermind, it does the same on MAX 4.2 :/

Same is the prob with me , there s no file generated. Did you get the problem solved, ?
If yes please reply on this post . Also please guide me abt the same.

I don't think max2map has ever worked, at least not well. As noted: Quark and map2dif are the recommended solutions for level building at this time. Polygon modellers like Max are not designed for this task. Some tools, like Game Level Builder make them sort-of work for this purpose, but also introduce most of the restrictions that frustrate people about Quark.

As a side note: Sorry about the comment about upgrading Max 4.0 to 4.2 in the other thread, I thought the question was about max2dts. I would have posted something like the above information if I'd realized the question was about max2map.

Hey,

max2map was there to meet a short term need for the tribes 2 team. It's really, really unreliable and not at all supported. I've just checked in some changes to notify you that you really ought not use it.

I cant really use the quark editor as I already have the model which is not modelled by humans,
its a radar scanned model.

I have to stricktly use that for the while. So can anybody tell me how can i bring my model so that I can provide a walkthrough in that . In short I want collision detection

I have used max2map succesfully, but I am using Max5....
The info I have was handed off to me by a teammate, so I can't give you a link, but if you have Max5+ (that's what the tutorial uses as well) and you want the info email me at klamers@earthlink.net, and I'll send you a zip file of what I have.
