What to buy

I am planning on making a 3rd person game similar to grand theft auto. Is this the right engine for me? If not do you know of any other engines which might be better.

Id like to think that torque could do that type of game, however I'm pretty sure you would need a fair bit of coding to get ti on par with GTA. The scripting language will come in handy for missions and whatnot however.

I would have to say yes torque can do this and it has some nice tools to help you along. Download the demo and read the tutorials and try to make your game. Your game is done mostly in the scripting languages so you don't have to purchase toque to start working on it. Give it a try, once it starts making sence and you start getting your game together then purchase torque.
