Brain Editor

Hi,

Torque script support is added for the latest version of Brain Editor with the commands database found at this site.

It would be nice with comments/suggestions/etc. so I can improve the support for the Torque Game Engine even more.

Brain Editor is available at www.twinno.com/brainedpro.

If there are any questions, don't hesitate to e-mail at brained@twinno.com

Ugh...jEdit is ugly...I've reconfigured, reworked, fiddled, modified my way around...everything I can think of...and jEdit is still ugly. If you have two windows and modify something in one it never ever properly updates the other...you have to click an 'update button'...it is horrendously slow to use the debug feature, and the only way to get decent syntax highlighting is to start with the "alternative" one, and then tweak around for an hour until you have something workable.
I'm sure jEdit w/ TIDE is top notch on the linux/mac platforms...but it just completely does not cut it in a windows environment. It simply falls far short of being a tool up to windows platform standards.
A better solution would be higher quality syntax highlighting in UltraEdit..but thankfully the Brain editor is around to save us.

@Howard
Just wondering if you've figured out how to set the breakpoints to work?

Well, use whatever tool you like, if you don't like JEdit, don't use it... I love it and find it more mature than any other "text" editor, so I use it... no need for a "religious" discussion here - and this is a BrainEditor thread anyways.
So use whatever suits your needs, pleases your eye or whatever and be happy :)

@Steven Chiu, I've replied to your post at the Brain Editor Pro forum with a step by step tutorial on the torque debugging part.

@Twinno: You might want to consider posting it as a resource here to keep the Torque community informed if they choose to use this tool.

I've already added it as a resource but it hasn't been approved yet.

EDIT: It has been added; www.garagegames.com/index.php?sec=mg&mod=resource&page=view&qid=6014

>>The debugger won't be included in the demo as it's a good reason to register ;)<<

V1.0.4 has just been released - if you have used your 15 days of the demo - you'll get another 15, when they run out, you are welcome to register

This is a screenshot of the latest version

Alright Twinno, You've about convinced me. I am playing with the demo and like it a LOT especially the code completion and command help. I have a few requests.

1. Can you provide the ability to give local and global Torque script variables their own unique color?

2. Can you allow for underlining and italics in the editor syntax highlighting selection?

3. It's really hard to read the shortcut list when wanting to re-assign shortcuts.

4. Indent all doesn't indent single line "if" statements or "case" statements correctly.

5. ... the biggie. Can you provide hint based debugging? Where I can hover over a variable and get the value? It is time consuming to always have to add it to the watch list.

Thats about it... other than that. I hesitate to say, but I like it, and am still playing with the demo.
