Gruesome!

A game idea I sort of stumbled upon today while at work.
It would consist of very strange, harsh, and deadly arena's. Full of traps, etc.
It would be strictly multiplayer or single player against the AI.
All weapons would be rather odd gruesome, and or implemented weapons. As well as players would be able to trigger traps via switches, and buttons.
Weapons would be like Baseball bats with spikes, chainsaws, axe's, flamethrowers, saw blade launchers, etc.
It's not completely though out yet I was just tossing around the idea in my head.
There would be a varying selection of characters to choose from. Maybe even be able to do things like hop on a really evil looking riding lawnmover with a V8, and run people down spraying gore everywhere.
Traps would be things like Bear Traps, or big fans in the wall which could be triggered to suck people into them. Trap doors that drop into acid or something. Blades that come out of the walls. Giant axes swinging from the ceiling, etc.
I dunno I'm still working on the WWI idea, but just thought I'd toss this idea up for some opinions.

Another player flips a big old fashioned style circuit breaker on the wall below. Suddenly the sniper is sucked through the air vents, and bits, and pieces of him come spraying out a big central exhaust fan. There would of course be ways of not getting sucked in too.
Or a player falls through a trap door into a tank of acid. He should turn into some bubbling goo maybe.
I mean gore where there should be gore but not in a untasty too gory sort of way. Like when someone bashed someone with a spiked baseball bat it should look like they're getting hit with a spiked baseball bat. Not blood spraying like someone turned on a faucet.
I mean gore has it's limits but c'mon how good would Mortal Kombat have been without the gore? Turn the blood code off, and the game is not as fun. I mean knocking your opponent off a bridge onto spikes was cool. It was the icing on the cake after a fight same with all the fatalities. I mean the blood spraying everytime you hit somebody was needless, but the fatalities is what made the game.
I mean look at Street Fighter series of games. Cool, fun, but when you get done beating your opponent Oh man yeah he falls down on the ground.
Yet Mortal Combat it wasn't over. Your opponent had to suffer the humiliation as you rubbed in his defeat by some gruesome finishing move. Or in later games turning them into a baby, etc.
Even in Quake sure dropping somebody with a nail gun was fun, but when you bounced that grenade down the stairs, and fragged him into little tiny bits it was a bonus.
Maybe have it so when a player runs down a hall, and a big blade swings out of the wall, and decapatates him it goes into like an instant replay. Him as well as anybody else who's been eliminated gets to watch their own demise as well as everyone elses. Even if they just got wailed on with a tire iron it would do a replay of the beat down.
Or maybe they step on the wrong wire, and just get fried. A player would be trying to catch other players in traps, set their own traps like bear traps etc, and the old school grab a weapon, and go after them.
I mean I will admit on a whole it sounds like a really barbaric idea, and if I every actually made even one level of it, and tried to sell it I would get sued six ways from sunday the first time some brat decided to hammer some nails in his luisville slugger, and go postal.
I still think it would be a very interesting, and different style of online deathmatch game. Maybe even make it where there are multiple races like aliens to choose from.
Anyway it's just another dime a dozen idea rolling around in my skull.

Well it was just an idea, and the gore is just an eye candy thing. I mean let's say a guy is sitting up in a big air vent sniping people with some oversized shoulder cannon like a bowling ball cannon.Another player flips a big old fashioned style circuit breaker on the wall below. Suddenly the sniper is sucked through the air vents, and bits, and pieces of him come spraying out a big central exhaust fan. There would of course be ways of not getting sucked in too.

I like your idea personally, get sooooo much gore jam packed into the game that it becomes fun to watch yourself die, and eventually people may even start triggering traps on themselves.
If you ever start it up I'd be interested in helping somewhat.

The whole thing about you getting sued wouldn't happen if you put a splash screen up saying "Such and Such Productions believes that violence should remain in games, and not in real life. We do not accept any liability for your actions."I like your idea personally, get sooooo much gore jam packed into the game that it becomes fun to watch yourself die, and eventually people may even start triggering traps on themselves.

Wouldn't be legal to use commercially, if you made the game free then yes you could use it.

My biggest hurdle is while I'm pretty good at modelling static things human forms give me lots of trouble. Not to mention skinning, and animating. Skinning I could manage, but I've yet to get into animating characters as I haven't so far modelled what I felt was a suitable human form.
If I can ever do the first one right though it's on.

I'm still giving this idea some thought. The more I think about it the better it gets in my head, because all in all it's a very simple idea.My biggest hurdle is while I'm pretty good at modelling static things human forms give me lots of trouble. I love the idea. Get good at animating and humans... and do it fast :D I want to help... But I'm only really any good at worldcraft, and if you want to do it commercially we'd have to get Valve to sign it.

Personally, I think you should veer away from the horribly gore stuff. Some people just wouldn't call that fun.
