"lit" multi/sub-object textures on .dts models?

Is there any way to make a sub-texture on .dts models that doesn't respond to ambient light, and appears as its own source of light? For example, lit brake lights on a car model or windows of a house on an otherwise fairly dark environment. It doesn't need to give off light in the world or anything, I've already read the forum posts regarding headlight cones and such. We can code it if we have to, but I was just wondering if I had overlooked something really obvious. Thanks. :)

This should appear to glow with an inner light..
If you need transparent + glow, on/off or fade in/out, you will probably need a 3DS Max .ifl (image file list) file.
I saw something about them for brakelight animations here in the forums.

For a steady glow, rip the faces that need to be lit off and retexture them with an "emissive" color set.This should appear to glow with an inner light..

You can make a material self illuminated in 3dsmnax and the engine will support it. It won't glow and affect the world, but it will not be lit by the world lighting.

it is right there on the material editor panel..
If you're using 3DS Max look for "self-lighting" or "self-illuminating"
somewhere under "maps" on the material editor panel.

Matt, That tells me you aren't using Milkshape because the button forit is right there on the material editor panel..

the material is controlled by "Self illumination" in the Max material editor'
I think it's under maps.. I don't use 3DS Max so I can't say for sure.
// I just did a quick google for '+3ds +max +emissive +tutorial' to get that. It's a tutorial
// for a plugin but it has the data. :)

According to http://www.turntool.com/files/TurnToolManual.doc.. 'the emissive color of the material is controlled by "Self illumination" in the Max material editor'
