Idea on making roads on terrain

I has an idea on this, and wanted to share it for opinions.

In the Texture editor, how about a new kind of placement based on a png, black meaning no blending and white meaning full blending. Then you could take a dirt road texture, and use this placement to create roads, and other stuff as well.

Does this sound like a good idea? If so, I may attempt it.

There's a template that Mark made in T2. It's titled road.cs, was the one used for Slapdash. It's a good start for making your own road templates.
