Mounting explained? Other "newbie" concepts?

I hear people ask beginner questions all the time. Even most beginners seem to understand the mounting in Torque. Having never played Tribes or Tribes 2, I'm not exactly sure of the significance of mounting.
From what I've gathered, certain objects have mounting points (a player and a vehicle have 8, I believe). These mounting points are where weapons attach (on a player) or where a player sits (in a vehicle). At least I think so.
Beyond that, I have no idea what they are. I've read through all the beginner/tutorial guids I could find and didn't see anything that really explained the general concept.
I've seen the links to the temp version of the new Torque documentation (great job, btw). I wonder if there is already a section that explains some of the base concepts in Torque? If not, here are a few suggestions. A few more could be gleaned by reviewing the "Getting Started" forum and checking on what questions get asked the most.
1. What Mounting is, how to use it
2. DataBlock significance
3. Examples of SimObjects and other "common" objects
For 2., I mean that a DataBlock is explained when looking at the documentation on Networking. But I only found that AFTER I'd read through all the beginner/tutorial guides which briefly mention a DataBlock but not really what it is/does. Obviously, this is a significant concept to grasp but it's not at a high enough level for beginners to "see".
For 3., these are mentioned and described in the beginner docs. But, without any context, it's hard to know what and how they're used.
For 2 and 3, I found much info from searching the forums. The following thread:

Tim Gift's response in particular, was exactly what I was hoping to find in the beginner docs.
The following website has a LOT of what is needed for a beginner as well:

I'm posting this to help out anyone who's working on the docs - hopefully you can add a few sections to help explain some base concepts, especially for those of us that, like Melv once was, good developers that just don't know Torque or Tribes.
Thanks,
Ner

Thanks for the posted links.
What is this "links to the temp version of the new Torque documentation" that you are talking about?
