I can't believe it now, but when I first started playing ThinkTanks I played the Demo version and had no idea that you could play online. I just played solo and liked it so much that I bought the game and played happily for about a month against Bots.
Then one day in a spell of curiosity I hit the little "Online" button, and WHOOOOAAA! Here was a whole community of people battling it out. And then I saw people chasing after the mythical Scrum ball, and I said "I want the ball!". The rest is history. I had never played an online game before and had no idea it could be so easy - just two mouse clicks to get in.
Now looking back, playing against Bots is SO boring, I can't believe I didn't know about this virtual playground. It's really a blast to play against real people! I've been playing video games for years and years, but there's something unique about this one.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

I saw the online button but chose not to go there thinking that it would be just a tank version of (yet another) FPS where you kill-be-killed-kill-be-killed with little or no satisfaction.
As much as I love shoot-em-up games (Medal of Honor, Max Payne, Soldier of Fortune etc. (i know, not very girlie of me, really bugged my last boyfriend) I have never cared much for the online tournament shoot-em-ups.
Somehow (besides being a third-person perspective) Think Tanks is VERY different.
The developers have found an incredible balance of gameplay requiring skill, strategy and sportmanship in order to be really good.
In addition, as Regeant said, the ease of which to join a game makes the online component invisible in the gameplay. Very easy to find a game and get on.
Playing against people in Think Tanks has greatly diminished other games for me. I have never been so obsessed with a game before and have never gotten so much value out of a $19 purchase.

It gives me great satisfaction to know that when ween is begging me for a pot skin and berating my other attempts, he is siting in is chair buck-nekked with one visible hand.

Well 'X' we're glad to see common sense reaching your tank brainjar. However, when I play TT with you, it seems as if the goal of the game, which is to carry the scrum and to pass it to me just before the goal, is still eluding you. With practice you can get better, and in my side I'll make it even easier for you to pass to me.HB
