My 3d Shading Style

Allright, here is the drift. Im working on a new shading style for cinematics for a tribute game Im working on for Sonic the Hedgehog (dont worry, already checked on legality issues) and Im wondering if anyone here thinks it is cool. It is 3dsmax render only because it only works due to the material nature of the skin I made. Basically, I took a similar cheap method for cel shading and worked with it from there. I used the Sonic Heroes model for Shadow and then worked on this shading style. Anyway, here it is.

I like the picture - but - what exactly is special about it ? Could u do a bigger more full on render that highlights the cool bits u've been working on, or maybe explain them a bit more.(I didn't mind the site so much)

Anyways, the shading looks quite nice on the model - agreed the render does need to be bigger if you're checking details like shading. I think you also need a different background/floor texture. The style of the grass doesn't mix with the style of shading, and I guess you would have nice cell-shaded blades of 2-tone grass too.
I think firstly, model some grass and apply the same shading technique to it, or just do something simple with a material that looks more cell-shaded, and doesn't contrast the model so much. Then, do a nice big 800x600 render and post a link to that...

Hmm, the site is pretty bright, and breaks a few good practices, but web development isn't everyone's forte :-) I guess it's just there to show some screens at the moment, and I'd hope that it improves if it's supposed to generate sales :-)Anyways, the shading looks quite nice on the model - agreed the render does need to be bigger if you're checking details like shading. I wouldn't go dumping anything just because a few people who have impossible last names, didn't like it. You should be able to withstand a little critism if you're an artist. If thats the case. I also noticed tripod in the URL so that might be the problem as well.

The link appears to still be working fine on my end =/
Then again tripod isn't the best place in the world :)

The link is dead, James you are probably just pulling from your local cache.

Works fine for me too...no local cache either. Tripod normally does an hourly bandwidth limit/reset.

The website sucks because I havent really done any work on it. I am only using it to display pictures and such. I will have a better website later.

Allright, I know my site sucks... but thats besides the point. Anyway, about the shading technique, the deal is that Im trying to convey the box art from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Ill get a picture of the box art for you all to see later) so that I can use a sort of cartoony style for game cinematics Im going to do.The website sucks because I havent really done any work on it. I am only using it to display pictures and such. I will have a better website later.

Firstly, your site looks terrible. The link you provided contains a page with a *bright* blue background, and a badly chosen text color (making it slightly challenging to read the text). You also happen to have some midi music playing in the background. Midi Music + Web Pages = Disaster from Hell.
Then theres the counter. I won't even go into that.
As for your shading... doesn't look too bad, except its a bit on the plastic side :)
