Super Slow Debug Build for Release_1_2_0 ???

by Stephen Clark · in Torque Game Engine · 12/18/2003 (11:00 am) · 4 replies

I checked out 1.2 and when I built the debug build it was way slow. I used the visual studio 6 project and imported it into VS7 and running my game at 1024 was like 5fps!

I have 1.1 and the debug build runs at a fairly normal speed (20-40) and the release for 1.2 runs normal as well(30-50). So, does anyone know are there maybe some profiling things or something else that is turned on by default in the 1.2 debug build? Anyone else run into this problem?

Thanks,

Stephen

On my 1.6ghz G5 with Radeon 9600 pro, the 1.2 TorqueDemo runs at 20-30fps with really bad hiccuping when rotating view... stalls -> 5-11 fps -> back to 20-30fps...

The lighting of the demo level took about 5x as long as on my AMD XP2100+ ...

ThinkTanks demo has no such problems.

There's problems with Pentium 4's, apparently, but I can't find the thread about it.

Is this confirmed to be a driver problem? I dont quite understand why then 1.1.2 would be fine, yet 1.2 debug vs release would be so much different...

I do have a P4 w/ Nvidia board though... I should try it on my other machine.
