Torque exporting problem

by Michael B. 3D Outrage · in General Discussion · 12/11/2003 (10:49 am) · 7 replies

I am having a problem exporting torque from Max 5.1, I downloaded Realm Wars, imported allot of my models, however the bounding boxes of all my models are not keeping the player from passing right through an object, but all other objects (that came with the demo) are working fine, can anyone help me out of what I may be doing wrong.

Are you perhaps confusing the "bounds" shape (which is essentially a marker for the transform of your model within the engine) with Collision geometry? It sounds like you might be.

Well, collision geometry, like Col-1 Collision-1 right? i think i tried that, i duplicated the bounds, and named it Col-1, and then duplicated detail-1 and named in Collision-1. Still didn't work, or maybe i did something wrong.

Your problem is your detail-1 object, -1 is a mesh size saved only for Collision data it is not to be used as a detail level for your actual geometry of your shape. Change this to detail128 and update your geometry to match this and see if that helps you out.

Let me see if I got this right, because what I did, didn't work.
I renumbered selection to "128", then I "embed shape", (which automatically makes a detail object), then I selected "bounds", and duplicated it, calling it "col-1" then I duplicated "Detail128", and named it "collision-1". well I am not doing something right.

Joel if you are still having problems upload your file and I will take a look at it and tell you what is wrong, how to fix it, and exactly why it isn't working.

To web space that you are given with your internet service or some other plan that you have.
