Fullscreen Issue

I'm currently experiencing an issue when in full screen mode. I'm running on WinXP Home Edition with a Mobility M6 video card in my laptop.
The issue is that my windows taskbar will stay viewable in fullscreen mode for a little bit, then disappear. I have seen this occur on a friends laptop as well who is running a GeForce video card.
Does anyone have any solutions in code, or where I should be looking to fix this?
