About that first compile....

Damn, I'm glad they've got this newbie board here, or I'd feel even more stupid than I do now ;) I've just tried compiling the sdk for the first time, using visualnet c++ 2003 (I found it impossible to find a retail copy of c++ 6.0). I downloaded what I believe to be the latest version of Torque 1-1-2 ? ..(I downloaded it on 15 Oct). After figuring out how to apply the c++ 6.0 instructions to the visualnet programme, I ran the initial compile no probs, but when I did the debug thing, it finished by telling me that 3 of the 16 debugging tasks failed...consequently, the demo failed to run, and the game was shut down. What do I do now? As you can no doubt tell by the above, I am in no way a coder of any sort, spending the last few years building mods (maps) for fps, and I decided I wanted to try my hand at my own game, so please excuse the complete lack of any professional sounding words in the above post. Any replies would be appreciated, and if they could be worded in lay-mans' terms, that would be great....at least until I get the hang of all the relevant coding terms...(and I was so proud when I finally figured out how to script for the Q3 engine...:( Many thanks for any replies.

Torque or C++ code in general isn't anything like modding the q3 engine... it's way more difficult, and you will have to learn lots if you want to program the game yourself.

Latest version is now 1-2-0 btw, not 1-1-2, probably worth updating to the latest stable.
