Can't play custom levels! help
by Anders B · in Marble Blast · 10/09/2003 (10:19 am) · 100 replies
Hello! I can't play any custom levels, although I've completed all levels (including the gold ones). What's wrong? Wasn't that the thing you should do to be able to play custom levels?

I know, Techy, but the name of it is Command, not Apple.

Everyone says Apple, though, since mac noobs don't know what Command is. I know. From experience.

I just don't have time to explain. Can only comment.

Well, to get you started, if you moved a trap door than in a sense, you have just created a custom level. I say this because you changed a level in a small way. You will have to ask the guys how to add more detail and interiors.I just don't have time to explain. Can only comment.

In the FILE Menu in the editor chose SAVE AS, but don't over write your level(SAVE) or you will lose your original level. Change the name of the mission file to something like 'my_great_level.mis' then save it to the directory you are in(either Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced-depending on what level you change). Once you save the level, the .mis file can be found in that directory folder. For example, if you changed a beginner level, the level you save with be in the data/marble/mission/beginner directory.
To play the level in the custom tab, you must place you file in the the custom folder in the data/marble/missions directory. There should be a custom folder in the mission folder. Place the file in the custom folder. If you don't have a custom folder, create one in the mission folder.
Open marble blast game click on custom tab and play your level.
Good luck.
Easy huh?

Well, Kitty you have to save your mission after you change it. Here 's how:In the FILE Menu in the editor chose SAVE AS, but don't over write your level(SAVE) or you will lose your original level. to convert them into .dif files.
Note: start pad/end pad. gems etc are in the tab in F4 marble-data-shapes.

To make custom interiors, download constructor and follow my tutorial found @ http://marbleblast.proboards78.com/index.cgi?board=constructor&action=display&thread=1187563943. Then in the level editor. click F4, then scroll through marble-data-interiors until you find your interior, and choose it. Note: you will have to download marbleblast map2dif found here: http://files.filefront.com/MarbleBlastMap2Difzip/;6557671;;/fileinfo.html to convert them into .dif files.
Note: start pad/end pad. gems etc are in the tab in F4 marble-data-shapes.

Get it here.
See the QuArK tutorial here. Ignore the setup, that is without the easy installer.
Use either, it's your choice. Constructor is for ease, but you need to do some editing to get it to work with map2dif. QuArK is for more professional, but you need to run 3 exes to do it. Your choice. I use QuArK, PF uses Constuctor

Or, you can use QuArK (which I use), and create maoving platforums and such.Get it here.

It seems that most people like QuArK more (or at least hate constructor), so I advise you to download that if you have a PC. Constructor is so buggy, it has earned itself a bunch of nicknames... my favorites are bugstructor and shitstructor. ;)

Hi, guys. I'm new here, but have been playing for well over a year. I've looked at these forums and want to ask how to make custom levels on a mac. I don't have QuArk or any other program, so can someone help?
